Recurring Donations and User Specified one time donation

I would like to be able to set up recurring donations using PayPal for our donors.  I was able to set this up through the Payment Wizard by selecting subscriptions.  Some of our donors will not want to do a recurring donation; instead, they will want to opt for a donation that they specify as a one time donation.

Is it possible to have both a recurring donations (through the subscription option) AND a user specified donation button on the same form.

    I appreciate your help.

    Thanks.

I believe Vangie that you would like to have a form set up like so: https://form.jotform.com/53426093482962

As you can see it will show a default value of 1, and have the optional field for user to enter his or hers own donation amount.

Under that, they can select for how long they would like to be charged for. For example, selecting 1 means that they will be charged only once, while if they place unlimited, they would be making donations without any specific end date.

To do that, you should create one subscription and when its all set up, you make it editable by the people filling out the form.

Lets grab a quick look at the screenshot of the subscription when we create it:

I will go through each field one by one:

    1. Name - this is what will be shown to people filling out your form and in their Paypal account, so it is best to make it something that is easy to understand

    2. Price - Usually this is white and it should be for you at first, so enter the default value that you wish to have on the form

    3. Variable Price checkbox - once you check this, the price will be disabled, but it allows you to set everything that you need to have the form function right (so check it now).

    4. Price Source - You can set it to None (Manual Input) if you want them to be able to type their own values, or select a filed instead if you wish to capture the values from it (useful if you want to give them specific options as donations).

    5. Subscription Period - Monthly, weekly, etc - these are timeframes after which a subscription will renew itself.

    6. Number of Payments - this sets for how many {subscription periods} (which we set above) will the subscription be renewed for. Setting this to Customer-selected you allow them to select it by themselves.

This is a screenshot of the form so that you can see various fields from the setup on the form:

Hope this helps, but do let us know if you have any additional questions and we would be happy to assist with the same :)
