How to see URL where the form is embedded and Adsource ID

Asked by Nathan Carlson  on December 16, 2015 at 11:00 AM

We are currently in the market for a new form builder tool. We are currently using Drupal Webform. Two functionalities that we currently have are being able to capture the URL of the page the form resides on and being able to capture the Ad campaign that directed the user to the page.

Is this something you've done before? Please, by all means, contact me by phone if you need a better explanation.

We can easily track what is the page where the form was filled on, by using our Get Form Page URL widget. Please see our manual on How to Add a Widget to your Form.

By adding that widget to your form, even if the same form is embedded on multiple pages or even multiple websites, the widget will show you on what exact URL was the form filled and submitted on.

When it comes to your Adsource ID, I believe it would be possible, but I'm not quite sure how it is that you usually pass it on or collect it.

    - If it is in the form of an URL parameter, you can create a hidden field on your JotForm form that has the same name as the URL parameter, and the form field would be automatically filled with the value of the URL parameter. This is possible because of the prepopulation of form fields through URL parameters.

    - If on the other hand you are using some other method to track your Ad campaign, such as by embedding a custom JavaScript file into your form to track the Adsource ID, you would have to download the source code of your form and make changes directly to the source code of the form, and paste the modified code into your website.

Please let us know if you need further clarifications or assistance, and we will be happy to help.
