Expiration Date: Which time zone to use?

Asked by convenus on December 17, 2015 at 05:23 AM

    Good morning,

I am testing a form and trying to setup a date and time end for my form.

I have followed advices given in the Forum (consider the EST time and not the GMT, setup 5 hours prior the end time, etc.) nothing has worked, an error message still appears "The date you entered is not later than current date. This will disable your form".

So I have tried to setup the time at 21:45 tonight but this message still appears.

Could you please let me know what are the exact requirements to setup a date and a time end (how long before it need to be setup, what time this is referred to EST, GMT?, etc.)

I look forward to hearing from  you.

    Many thanks in advance.

    Kind regards.

    Juliette

This is our guide for the said limit settings: http://www.jotform.com/help/137-How-to-Limit-Submissions-in-a-Form

You will have to add a date later than the current date and time. You are putting 21:45 in the time, put a later time.

    I hope that helps.

    Good morning,

    Thank you for this information.

I have done a test yesterday following the instructions.

    It does not work...

I wanted the form to end today at 10am (so setup time at 5am EST as requested), I have checked this morning at 9am (so 4am EST) the form is already disabled but should not.

Could you please help regarding this matter as I followed all instructions but it still does not work.

This is an important feature for us and will need it to work at an exact time.

I look forward to hearing from you.

    Many thanks and kind regards.

    Hello Juliette,

The expiration time is based on the timezone set in your a count, your account is currently on the European/London timezone which is GMT 0.

You can change the timezone to match your region then test by setting the expiration data.

    Dear Sammy,

    Many thanks for your reply.

I will test with GMT time but this is in contradiction with what your colleague sent me earlier yesterday within the link "How to Limit Submissions in a Form".

The instructions in this link show:  "The time is US Eastern Standard Time (server time, not your computer time)".

I will try and see if it works with GMT time setup.

    Many thanks again.

    Kind regards.

Unfortunately, we do not have any updates yet.

The date is most likely should be in EST, since this is a server time zone.

    Example:

    2016-01-22 19:00 = Jan 22 at 19:00 EST

I think that the error message is actually wrong, so we will need to wait for an update from our developers to confirm this and troubleshoot it further.

Thank you for your patience in this matter.
