Spinner(field): shows as a regular textbox field on Fillable PDF copy of the form

Asked by pcpls on December 20, 2015 at 02:36 AM

I am trying to create a form with spinners that can be filled with three values -1, 0, or 1. It works on the online form, but when I try to download it as a PDF, the spinner fields just show up as text fields.

I tried this at work Friday and I could have sworn I got it to work, but now I can't replicate it. I even logged in to my computer at work remotely, and still couldn't replicate it.

Using Chrome both at home and at work, windows 10 at home, 7 at work, and I also tried in adobe reader.

I would like to apologize for the inconvenience, I have made a clone version of your form(https://form.jotform.com/53531944577969) and downloaded a PDF copy of that form to test it on my end. I was able to reproduce the issue. Spinner fields on Jotform becomes a regular text field when a form is converted into a Fillable PDF form.

Were you able to get it to work last Friday? I mean, you made a fillable PDF form and the spinner in it is showing, is that correct?

I tried creating a sample form but got no luck, the spinner is still not showing. I would suggest you try to use a dropdown field for the mean time.

Although, I'm not sure if spinners don't really work with fillable PDFs, but I will still submit this to our developers to see if there's something they can do to make this work if possible. You will get updates from them if there are any via this thread.

    Thank you.

I'm sorry but I can't be positive if I got it to work. I thought so, but now I'm not sure. I fought with trying to do this in Word or Adobe Acrobat all day, and then figured I'd give Jotforms a try. I *seem* to remember seeing it working. And, if I recall, it automatically opened in Chrome and was working. I was glad but it was the end of the day so I just made a mental note to come back to it later and try and build the form in Jotforms. But when I tried again, I couldn't get it.

I'm sorry this is so vague, I've been tearing my hair out trying to remember what I saw. I'm telling you what I think I remember, but I'm not terribly confident of any of it.

Thank you very much by the way, for the speedy response.

To be honest, I'm also not 100% sure earlier if this was working before and it just suddenly stopped working, that's why I reported it to our dev team for them to check. However, I have made some further research and found this guide: Fillable-PDF-Everything-you-need-to-know-about-JotForm-Fillable-PDF-Creator

On the guide, it was mentioned that like the other fields, Spinner field, also has its limitation when form is converted to Fillable PDF

I'm sorry if I wasn't able to find this one at a later time.

I would suggest you check the guide also for future references.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to ask us and  we will be glad to help you.

    Thank you.
