How to make dropbox work with jotform?

Asked by Mike on February 06, 2012 at 10:41 AM

    I have 2 questions...

Do you have instructions how to make dropbox work with jotform?

In what form does the form go into my dropbox.  Is it a spreadsheet that each user is added to?

What I'm trying to do is have my spreadsheet updated everytime someone fills out a form.  I don't want a separate file for each user.

    Is this possible?

    Thanks for your help!

    Mike.

    Mike,

Below is the link to a user guide article on how to integrate your form to Dropbox:

In what form does the form go into my dropbox.  Is it a spreadsheet that each user is added to?

Submission entries are dumped into PDF files which are stored on your Dropbox account following this file hierarchy

    --- JotForm
        --- Form Name/Title
--- Specified Folder Name (taken from values entered in a form field)
Submission data PDF (same file name as folder)
                    Uploaded Files

JotForm cannot pass submission data as a spreadsheet file, so there is no possible way to achieve what you want (auto-updating spreadsheet with form data).

Should you have further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us again. We ask you, though, to open new threads for questions that are unrelated to the original topic at hand.

    Thanks!

Thanks for the quick resonse!   So does that mean I can then download the contact list from my dropbox account and sort it however needed?

Sorry for all the questions but this is new to me.

    Thanks!

I don't quite get what you mean by "contact list", although I think you're referring to the submitted form entries.

Like I said, the submitted forms data are dumped separately in PDF files. There is no way to have these stored as Excel files on your Dropbox account.

If you prefer to download the data as an Excel spreadsheet, the following solution might come in handy:

    http://www.jotform.com/help/101-Generate-Excel-Report

The above solution will generate an auto-updating URL for your form submissions Excel file.

It is also possible to download a partial Excel file from within your account's administration page:

Can I link the up load button to my public drop box folder?

    @soundforweb

Sorry but that's not possible. JotForm submissions are dumped onto its own Dropbox folder, named "JotForm". There is no way to configure your form to send the files to your public dropbox folder.
