Submission PDF customizing styles and formatting

I'm trying to customize the submission pdf by navigating to My Forms > Submissions > Get PDF > Customize PDF.

Before customizing the submission pdf, form questions with multi-line answer fields grow with the text so that all text is printed. After customizing, form questions with multi-line answer fields will randomly collapse down to one line, cutting off any additional text.

Before customizing the submission pdf, form questions align to the page correctly. After customizing - for example if I ajust the height of an answer field - that field no longer aligns to the page as expected.

Before customizing the submission pdf, the question and answer fields generally play nice with page breaks. After customizing however, the question and answer fields are split across page breaks, frequently cutting off text in the answer fields.

Finally, once I've done any customization to the pdf, of any kind, I can no longer revert to a version prior to the customizations. The above issues affect all of that form's pdfs downloaded after saving. No amount of "undoing" or "resetting" will clear the issues. I'm forced to start over with a clean new form.

Seems like it might be related to Configurable List Widget? Very sorry if I'm not explaining this very well.

    Examples:

These two forms are nearly identical.

This form has a broken submission pdf.

This form is the one we're currently using and is live. I've made no changes to the submission pdf because I don't want to break it.

    Hi,

I checked youir form - https://form.jotform.com/53542824244151 - and I can see some of the problems you are reporting.

    #1 Texts are cut off

#2 Fields split across page breaks

However, I cannot see the issue where the alignment of field is wrong. If you have a screenshot of such field, please attach it in this forum so that it will be addressed as well as we escalate this to our development team.

We will wait for you response. Thanks.

Christian, thanks so much for your help with this!!!

I went in to PDF Design just now and expanded the two Shift Events fields so they take up more vertical space on the page. They're both the same height. The right column is now bottom aligned.

Please note that when you used the customize PDF tool, it will create a paper print layout, which means text and layout will not adjust based from their contents. You will have a fixed PDF layout, if the contents of the fields are too long and does not match the height of the field in the layout that you have set, then it will be cut off.

However I did noticed that the field values fetched from the Configurable list widget is aligned vertically at the bottom. To better discuss that one, I opened a separate thread for it. Please refer to this link instead: http://www.jotform.com/answers/732749. We will address it shortly.

Thanks so much Charlie! Regarding text PDF layout, it's as I suspected.

You are welcome. As mentioned, using the Customize PDF tool will give you a paper print like layout with a fixed positioning of the fields. However, we did see that the configurable list widget is causing a space at the top because of it's alignment at the bottom vertically. Once that is resolved, I presume you will have the desired layout you have.

Do let us know if you need more information on this.
