Conditions : Update/Calculate Field condition is not recognizing the Matrix Field

I have done this before with the conditional rules but I can't seem to do it now.

I want to copy the employee name in row 1 of the matrix to the employee1 text box.   

I am using the conditional statement.  It appears the error is with how the matrix field is selected but I can't figure out how to select it differently.

I created a test form with the issue.  Feel free to clone / modify of create a test of the form.

We apologize for the inconvenient.

I was able to replicate your issue, when I tried to select a value from the Matrix Field and click on save I got the error Undefined Field, you will be notified about the progress on this issue via this thread.

As an alternative, you can use the Calculation Widget, and you will accomplish the same then using conditions, add the field and then configure it as shown in the image below :
