Label default text reappears when I return to form editor

    I deleted the labels for my form fields and used text hints instead, to save space (form had to fit in 240px wide column). Looks fine, but when I return to the form editor in jotform, the placeholder label text -- "Click to edit" -- reappears, and it also appears on my live form, except that it shows as a series of dots because the width of the label is only 15px.

    How do I "lock" my form so that all my settings are secure and not replaced by jotform defaults when I return to the form editor?

    Thanks

    Dave

    Dave,

    It is not possible to "lock" the form as you intend to do. JotForm requires fields to have labels - for the purpose of sorting/organizing data in the backend. Hence, empty labels are automatically filled in with "Click to edit".

    My suggestion is to give a label for each of your field, then hide them on the front-end by injecting this custom css to your form:

    .form-label-left, .form-label-top {display:none;}
    .form-line {display:block !important}

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks for the quick answer. I would do as you suggest but the form is embedded in a DotNetNuke site and I had to embed it as an iFrame to avoid javascript conflicts, so I cannot customize the CSS -- but if you know otherwise, please let me know!

    Thanks again,
    Dave

    Hello Dave, you can customise your form with CSS whatever the embed method you use.

    Its explained here -> http://www.jotform.com/help/117-How-to-Inject-Custom-CSS-Codes

    My colleagues, Neil's CSS above should work perfectly for that particular configuration of form you are using on your website.

    If you run into any problems adding the Custom CSS to your form, let us know and we can either explain in greater detail or just add it to your form for you.
