Can I make a date calculation with months rather than days?Asked by tammy1973 on February 01, 2016 at 06:10 AM
Is it possible to calculate a date which is 6 months from a date entered in a field without having to use 180 days?
On my form, the user has to enter the date when a document was issued. By law, this document is valid for 6 months. The problem is that 6 months could be 181 days or even 185 days, depending on which months are involved. This means, if I use a condition where the document is rejected if it is more than 180 days old (if issue date is before today's date minus 180), a document might still be acceptable by law. For example if they complete the form on the 1st February 16, they can use a document which was issued on the 1st August 15 but the form would calculate that the can only issue a document issued on the 7th August 15 (which is 180 days counted back from today's date), so documents which are actually legally acceptable, wouldn't be recognized as acceptable by the form unless I can use a calculation with months rather than days. Is there a way round this? Many thanks, Tamara
Unfortunately it is not possible to create date calculation with months. We have only date function on calculation.
Please let us know if you need further assistance.
I'm not sure if I explained my question correctly. I'll try and make it less complicated - My question is: Can I have a calculation that works out the date 6 months (not 180 days) back from a date entered by the user. E.g. user enters 1st January 2016, field auto calculates 1st July 2015. Is this possible? I understand from previous threads that this was a feature that was requested and fed back to the developers a few years ago? Thanks, Tamara
I understood your request correctly. You want to have calculation Today+ 6 months instead of Today + 180 days.
Yes you are right. There is a thread which is similar to yours:
However, my colleague couldn't find a solution and there isn't any update about that ticket.
However, I will try it with different way which is complicated.=)
I would appreciate it if you could give me some time to check that.
