Prepopulating Fields

I am trying to prepopulate my fields (name, email, title) so saving a form and returning later is more efficient.  It's not working.  I have gotten the information to prepopulate (once) but it won't reset for the next entry of information.  It does not enter the new information when I return to the form to begin a new submission.  It still has the previously entered information.  Though, interestingly, if I refresh the page I can see the new information for a very brief moment.

I was able to, somehow, get the second website fields to clear.  So now when I enter information on the first page for the save information the next page is blank.  But the email link sent to me, to use to access the saved information, only briefly shows the entered information (with spaces removed) then the fields become (apparently) empty.

I saw your other post http://www.jotform.com/answers/757905 and I assume that you are trying to save form and continue later.

Are you using Save Forms and Continue Later (Session method)?

Can you provide us link of your you use for session generation, so that we can test it.

You can also try using Auto-Fill feature instead.  How to Enable Auto fill feature - save form entries to continue later

Auto fill method is based on browser local storage. It is saving the form data on users browser, so user can open the form later and he/she will see the past data. Note - user will need to use same browser to access data.

I am trying to use the Save Forms and Continue Later (Session method).  I can get the form to direct to the new page but I just realized that the redirected page has the previously submitted data.

So, if enter X on form one it will open with X on form two until the "Next" button is clicked.  What I mean is the next time I open form one and enter Z, when it opens form two X is still there from the last time I clicked "Next".

I suppose I can just have people enter their information multiple times then click next to keep the information, but leads me to wonder if people will be able to be completing multiple forms at once or will their new data continually be overwriting data is a single form?

The two forms would have different IDs and they should have different sessions. The session from one form would not overwrite the data from another form. Let us know if you need further assistance.

Thank you, thank you, thank you, so much for this reply!!!!  It seems, though I don't want to jinx it, that I have gotten the prepopulation fields to work!  Changing the field name made sense once you mentioned it.  (I had duplicated the field names thinking it was easier for management purposes.)  After all that time trying, it seems it was an quick and easy fix.

I am so pleased that it seems, crossing my fingers, that I have figured this out.  So far, everything else has seemed pretty straightforward.

    Thank you again!

On behalf of my colleague, you are welcome. We are glad to hear that you were able to prepopulate your form.

Feel free to contact us if you have any other questions.

I am sorry for the multiple questions.

I have gotten the next form for the save an continue to prepopulate.  And a link is actually emailed.  However, when I click on the link that is emailed, the form does not reopen with what it was previously prepoluated with.

I have checked your email log and I found email with your test edit link. When I opened that edit link I saw that first page of you form is populated. On second page only one field was populated. I have then filled some other field on your form and clicked on next button. Then I have closed the form, I did not submit it. When I reopened your form with edit link all data that i have entered were saved. This is the edit link I used: https://form.jotform.com/60265694817162?session=mannessl@wit.edu

Please note that you need to click on next button and only then data that are entered on previous page will be saved.

Hope this will help. Let us know if you need further assistance.

Thank you for your reply.  What is populated on the second form doesn't change when opening it from the link.

So, if I on the first form enter A and B, both A and B will populate in the second from.

However, when I click on the link to return to the second form, Z and Z are populated, literally as "Z" is what I somehow what I was last able to save and now can't seem to unsave it.

It seems anything I try to do to make the second from save ends up undoing the prepopulation I can done.  So, I am back to saving the "Z" until I can figure out what I am doing wrong.

I did some tests using the link that my colleague gave, and it seems like the data in the form does indeed change when I make some changes, close it, then open it again using the link.

It appears that you have setup the Save and Continue successfully. Keep in mind that the user will need to click Next to continue and save the data they have entered.

If you are referring to a different link, please let us know so we can investigate the issue further.

I think I may be describing my question poorly.

My second form does prepopulate.  When I enter information on my first form, this is then in the fields on my second form.

However, when I click on the link sent to me to return to finish the form later, the prepopulated information is not there.  For example, even though the correct information prepopulated, now when I use the link open the form "Jotform Support" is in the Submitted by field.

I am not sure if I understood you correctly. Can you please provide us link of your form so that we can test it, or provide us edit link which is not populated?

    Looking forward to your reply.

Would you please remove the visual example of the form you posted to my question?
Though I do understand why you included this, I did not realize that you would be adding the actual form for public display. Had I realized the form I was creating might be used, I would have kept the question private.
I would also appreciate if my user name could be changed from "iccwit" to "mannessl" as I also didn't realize that this would be publicly available on the questions.
    Thank you,

I have removed the screenshot of the form and I have set the thread to Private so only you and the support team can see the thread. Your username has also been changed from "witicc" to "mannessl". Do let us know if you need further assistance.

Thank you for making these changes.  Though the next form does populate, now when I open the page from the "Save and Continue Link" sent the "Submitted by" field now opens with "JotForm Support" rather than the information the form was prepopulated with.

The data in the second form was probably modified by my colleague. You can make a new test to confirm if everything is working correctly now.

I have tested your first form to my end and got redirected here:

    https://form.jotform.com/60265694817162?session=&witEmail=welvin.jotform@gmail.com&courseTitle=Text&submittedBy=Welvin%20Cudas

But I got the link in the email, only as:

    https://form.jotform.com/60265694817162?session=welvin.jotform@gmail.com

As you could see, the data from the first form isn't present in the link. You need to update the link to include the data. You can just copy the link from your thank you settings.

Wonderful!  Thank you.  (I thought I had tried this but my guess is I had things in the wrong order or obviously something important was wrong.)  My hopefully last question for a while is, the text is now being saved but the spaces are being removed.  So, when entered and prepopuplated, for example, "It Works!!!!" when opened from the save link becomes "ItWorks!!!!"

What do you mean? I just tested your form: http://www.jotform.us/form/60323973143149

And it transfers the data to your other form https://form.jotform.com/60265694817162?, with the space:
