I'm using jotform for customers to request a quote and the page loads in about 5 seconds. However the homepage loads just about instantly. So jotforms is about 5 times slower (which is understandable). What is a normal load time?

Probably is the embed method, can you try with the Iframe code? http://www.jotform.com/help/148-Getting-the-Form-iFrame-Code
Before you embed the code, paste it in a text editor like WordPad, you will notice two part of codes, only copy and embed the iFrame part in your webpage, example:
