I want to create an online form that has auto generating sequential numbers

eg when someone fills in the form they receive the next number shown on their form.  

I see you have Unique ID but that seems to be a hidden thing.

Your understanding it correct. Please be noted that "Unique ID" widget is always be hidden on form and this is because the ID is only generated after the form is submitted.

You may also like to take a look at our "Random Value Generator" widget and see if that fits into your requirement. This will be displayed on form and it is also possible to customize it as well by including or excluding numbers, letters, symbols, uppercase or lowercase characters.
