    captcha form warning

Asked by pirco on February 23, 2012 at 12:16 PM

not sure if this is related to the earlier issue about captcha not working but I have a four-page form (20193634428) and when I reach the last page (which includes the captcha field) that captcha field shows the warning that "this field is required" although I haven't tried to submit the form yet!

furthermore, when I "click for previous" (to go back to the previous "page"), the form shows me page 2 and page 3 at the same time.

it seems to be new (maybe after we moved to jotform.us?)

    thanks for any insight.

This looks like a display issue. Your form seems to submit without a problem, I'll add this as a bug report. We will fix this problem soon. Thank you for reporting.

hi, following up because we now received two reports today that users were not able to submit the form because the CAPTCHA image didn't show up.

and while testing, I noticed that whenever I get to the last page (with CAPTCHA), that CAPTCHA form alerts me that it needs to be filled, even though I hadn't tried submitting the form yet.

I'm wondering if the two are related and if there's anyone who could look at the form again.

I couldn't replicate the captcha image issue, it seems to be working ok now. Can you please test it again and let me know if you still don't see captcha images.

I'll also look for your validation problem with captcha and get back to you on that.

    thanks for checking again!

just to be clear: it seems like two (possibly related) issues.

    1. a couple of users reported not seeing the CAPTCHA image. I can't replicate that issue either... just reporting it

    2. when I test the form, the CAPTCHA always shows the error that "this is a required field"

if you just fill in the required fields on the first page (name, company, phone, email, and "unit") and then click to "proceed" to the last page, you'll see the red markers on the captcha form.

thos should only appear if and when the user tries to submit the form without entering captcha numbers. but not before, right?

EDIT: oh, and then, when you "click for previous" it combines page 2 and 3 and when you "click for previous" again, it combines page 1 and 2. just thought this might also be related.  and, again, I don't think these issues happened before we moved it to the .us domain (we moved it back to .com since)

    thanks again for your support!

hi there. I need to follow up again because we still have the same issue: the last page of our form displays a CAPTCHA error, even when no data has been entered on that last screen.

again, the form works once you fill in the CAPTCHA message but when users arrive at this page, they get confused because the last page shows an error message.

is this still an unresolved bug?

    Hi pirco,

May I suggest you to re-embed your form code into your website using iFrame method. However, if my suggestion isn't work, do let us know so we can further assist you and investigate the said issue.

    Thank you!

well, I'm using javascript to populate fields with "hints" and like the idea of having that code embedded.

is that the reason the captcha field shows a warning by default?

The form itself is fine, I believed this is due to a conflicting codes that's why captcha doesn't behave well. Is using reCaptcha OK with you? I'm not certainly sure if this helps but worth a try.

Let us know the result after this. Thanks.
