Can you modify the date option to only be month/year?

In the attached form I would like to change the expiration dates to only show month and year (not day).  Also, if I do that, how would I format the If <expiration date> is before <today+30> then...?  I would want it to reflect if the drug expires next month, then the same action would be taken.

There are several workarounds that would allow for hiding the day portion of the date field.

However, since date calculations require the day, it would not be possible to hide this portion and also calculate an expiration date.
