Email Notifications: How to change the email sent based on user selection?

Asked on March 22, 2016 at 12:03 AM

I was finally able to create my 2-part conditional form with 2 submit buttons. I would like an email sent the customer if "I'm new here. Show me a quote" is checked in order for them to receive their quote. If they are pleased with the quote and want to then make a reservation that they can somehow get back to the form and complete the rest of it. If they are not pleased with the quote, that would be the end of the process.

If "Returning customer. Skip quote"  is checked, they would just complete the form all the way to the end and receive a different email with all of the details like normal.

Can this be done? If so, can you show me this process PLEASE.

Also, can a customized email be sent with some additional info. I locked the form so that only the info filled in would show on the form but the other info I added didn't show up. Please help.

It is possible to change the email that is sent based on the selection as you are requesting, to do it you only need to follow this guide: http://www.jotform.com/help/167-How-to-send-to-a-specific-email-address-based-on-a-selection

Regarding to the additional data that you want to add, this is not possible, since I checked your email template and seems like you are hiding empty fields, currently is not possible to customize the email template if you have enabled this feature, if you would like to submit a request about customize the email template when hiding empty fields, then please open a new thread, we will be glad to escalate it to our second level.

Thanks for Kevin_G for such a speedy response. I will definitely open a new thread in order to explore that option further.

Also, thanks for showing how to send 2 email notifications. Will this also work for autoresponders as well since the quote info needs to go to the customer as well?

Lastly, I don't think you addressed if it is possible for the customer to return back to the same form if they are pleased with the quote and want to now make a reservation?

You're welcome, our time to answer your questions depends in how many question are in our forum, right now the number is low so we are able to reply very quickly.

Regarding to your question about if this applies to autoresponder as well, yes it is, you should create the email notification as normal, once you are done with this you only need to add the field's name in the email recipient, for example, if the field's name is {email} then you need to add this value as it is {email} as the email recipient, it will be automatically populated with the email entered by the user, this guide will help you to get the field's name: http://www.jotform.com/help/146-How-to-find-Field-IDs-Names

Regarding to allow your users to go back to the same form and edit the data previously submitted, you only need to add the edit link in the email template that will be sent to your customer, when editing the email you need to click on Form Fields and then add the Edit Link.

Regarding to the feature request about allow to hide empty fields as well as edit the email template, we will be glad to escalate your request to our developers, we will escalate it to our second level as soon as we can.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks again. It worked like a charm. After a few test runs, lol.

However, while doing my test runs, I noticed that the Base Hourly Quote keeps showing $5 whenever I click car seat which is actually $5. The calculations are correct under Base Rate Quote but it shouldn't be reflected under a hourly rate when it's clearly not. Can you please help? I figured out what's going on now but I'm not sure of how to correct it. Car seat under additional services is available for both the base hourly and base rate. What condition or calculation will help correct this issue?   Email Notifications: How to change the email sent based on user selection? Image 1 Screenshot 20
