What are the steps when someone orders over Dwolla payment processor on our forms?

Asked by Mark Ryan on March 22, 2016 at 10:52 AM

    Sounds great!

To bring this home and make this fully understandable to the unfamiliar, can you provide a sample screen shot that the user (form filler / payer) would see. That would really help!

Please find the whole payment process below:

    1. Form https://form.jotform.com/60813159674966. Integrated to Dwolla

    2. When submitting the form, you'll be redirected to the login screen:

    3. The next window is this, summary of the product and then your payment method. Either pay by your Dwolla Balance or the Credit Card attached to your account. You also have to enter your PIN.

    4. Clicking Submit payment button will process the payment and you'll be redirected to the Thank you Message of the form.

The form owner will receive an email from Dwolla:

    That's it!

so the person submitting payment has to have a dwolla account? That seems cumbersome. They should be able to just submit payment with credit card using dwolla processing company.

Yes, the person submitting the payment has to have Dwolla account.

Once the form is submitted, like my colleague mentioned your users can pay by Dwolla Balance or by Credit Card attached to their account.

Feel free to contact us if you have any other questions.

I had the same thought...needing an account will make this hard to implement.

Isn't the idea here to allow for funds to be transferred from a checking account as a one time or recurring payment? Wouldn't a routing & checking account number be sufficient?

I am thinking this would be amazing for large payments, for things like remodeling companies etc. and for private schools and the like to create recurring tuition payments...as mentioned before, it gets rid of the huge credit card fees on large purchases...

You are correct to think that Mark, but there's free accounts offered by Dwolla so I'm not quite sure what's hard other than the fact that it would need the user to make an account to use it. However, this is the requirement for that by Dwolla so that it functions properly and we don't have any control over that part.

It does have have a lot of room to reach much potential even though obviously it is not quite to that point but maybe in the future.

The purpose of dwolla is exactly as you said it for sending and receiving funds ach-direct which is also mentioned on their site.

Are you asking about using routing and checking on our end or just within the Dwolla Integration?

Requiring the person making the payment to have a Dwolla account is a deal killer. I am a healthcare provider and my patients are not going to establish an account just to pay me when there are easier solutions. If they change this, it could be great.

There is not much we can do to change how Dwolla processes their payment.  Most of our other payments processors do allow for payment without the need for an account, some of which also allow for direct credit card payment in the form.
