    Unique Question Stopped Working

Asked by JeffreySmith on March 23, 2016 at 06:19 PM

The Boat Number Field in form is setup as a unique question. It worked during testing. I needed to make modifications to form, and now the unique question does not work. Any entered number will return message that number is already taken. When modifying the form, I had copied the Boat Number Field. I deleted this field and recreated it again to try and resolve issue, but no luck. The jot form url below is to a copy of form. If unique question issue is resolved, it needs resolved on the live form.

Note: I reverted back to an older version of original form.

Thank you for the update. I have just cloned your form and was not able to replicate your issue. I tested both KR255 Registration and BACKUP of KR255 Registration. When enabling the unique question in both forms, I could not submit a second form when the answer had already been submitted.

If you are still having problems, please let us know. We will be glad to assist.

The issue was any value entered in the Boat Number field would report message. If 0800 was entered, and 0800 was entered a second time, it worked correctly. But if a new unused number was entered, the error message came up.

When you are testing and you clone a form, do email notifications go out? And does payment information go out as well? If yes, can you disable for testing?

Note: As I mentioned, the original form was restored, so if you cloned it to test, it was probably OK at that point.

Also, I duplicated and recreated the unique form field, the form id changed. Would this have caused the issue?

I am also cannot replicate the problem with the form. But let us investigate this further. We'd like to test more so I've cloned again the form to your account and deleted the notifier/autoresponder so no emails would go out when submitting the form.

Here's the new cloned form: https://form.jotform.com/60828119427156.

I'll let you know the outcome later.

You may notice that I've submitted the wrong form. I'm sorry for that.

I have tested it again with the correct form, still, I cannot replicate the problem with the Unique Question limit. I have submitted 1801, 1802, 1803 in series so to verify that it's working.

Perhaps, it's because of the payment field. You've submitted the form and the race registration in payment field is selected, forwarding you to Paypal payment page then you refuse to initiate a real payment. The unique number is counted and that is where you get the error because you've tested it again with the same number. Can you confirm? I can't think of any reason other than this because I have a new form and this feature is working fine.

Because the restored form is working fine, I will consider this issue closed. Thanks for your help.
