Route notification emails based on zip code entered in form

Asked by Michael Hill  on April 06, 2016 at 10:42 AM

We need the ability to route notification emails based on zip code. We're currently using Wufoo but there is a limit of 50 conditions and we have thousands of zip codes that we must route to. Our forms are simple...

    -----

    Name:

    Phone:

    Email:

    Zip:

Interest (Check Box): Product 1   Product 2   Product 3

    Comments:

    -----

The notification email would then be routed to the salesperson who managed that territory. Now, being able to import a table of zip codes with the associated sales rep's email address would be preferable to manually creating thousands of conditions.

    Thanks for your assistance.

Please take a look at the following form to see if that helps you.

You may enter one of the zip codes available from Hidden Zip code to the Zip field to get the email address filled based on the zip code. Here is what I did in the form to get the email address.

    1. I've added a new Drop down field to the form with the options and the email addresses as the assigned calculation values.

    2. Now add a condition to select the zip code in the drop down field based on the zip code entered in Zip field.

    3. Add a Form Calculation widget to the form to read the calculation value from the Drop down field.

    4. Finish the Calculation wizard and save your JotForm.

The Drop down field and the calculation widget may be hidden on the form. This method would help in creating multiple conditions in the form that puts load on the browser.

You may clone this form to your account to see how it works. If you have not registered an account, please register for a free account so that you can manage all your JotForms at one place.

Hope this information helps! Please get back to us if you need any further assistance. We will be happy to help.

We have about 9,000 zip codes. Am I going to run into a problem pasting those into the values fields? Both the drop down and the corresponding emails?

You can copy/paste the email values and zip codes, but the problem is that Drop Down field has a limit of ~ 60,000 characters at JotForm. It means that you will not be able to add the 9,000 items into a single Drop Down field (e.g. only the first 1,000 entries will be saved due to characters limit).

In case you can use email addresses based on zip codes, like:

    10007@your-domain.com
    11201@your-domain.com
    etc.

You can let the users to enter the zip codes manually, and accomplish the sending with just one condition: send the email to {filled-zip-code}@your-domain.com.

If you have any follow up questions, please let us know.
