How do I read my encrypted forms?

I chose encryption for some of my forms by activating it via the preferences - form settings in the toolbar. I thought I was simply initiating added protection for keeping my data from prying eyes in cyberspace or something, not making it difficult for me to read the data. I do not know how to read the data now that the submissions are captured. I do remember a download of a (.key) file, but I do not know how to use this to unscramble this information. I have since gone back into the settings to disable this encryption, but prior to that disabling of the encryption, I have received several submissions that I cannot read, right now. Please help.

To be able to view/open the encrypted form data, you will need to use the generated Private key when you encrypted the form.

    User guide: What-Are-Encrypted-Forms-and-How-to-Use-Them-as-Expert

If you have lost the Private key, it will not be possible anymore to remove the encryption on that form. This means that there will be no option to view the existing submission data.

Unfortunately this is how the Encryption work. It is a very high grade security tool that was not meant to be crack if not properly used.

The remaining option will be to disable encryption or create a new form.

Hope this help. Let us know how we can be of further assistance.

I appreciate your answer, but is there any way you can help me troubleshoot the newly found roadblocks (See below) that have not been addressed by your responses, even from the user guide you linked:

    1) No popup prompt for the encryption code is showing for me, whether I attempt to access the entered encrypted data via either the entry alert email I receive, or even accessing this data by the secondary way of directly though the Jotform platfom.

    2) I have downloaded a jotform key.key to my computer, running Windows 7 and utilizing a Chrome browser, but I am receiving an 'error' popup on my computer from the Registry Editor that reads the following:

Cannot import C: \Users\mvps\Desktop\jotform key.key: The specified file is not a registry script.

You can only import binary registry files from withing the registry editor.

If I can get answers on these issues stated above, I believe I will be able to read the encrypted data.  Thank you fro your time and for your answer, in advance.

Encrypted data will not be sent via email, it can only be accessed from your JotForm account.  If you have already uploaded your key file, it will be stored in your browser until your cache/cookies are cleared.  To ensure you can upload your key, you can load your browser in private or incognito mode to ensure the key will allow for upload.  If you are trying to double click the file, windows will not be able to read it.
