I would like to perform a conditional calculation. The result will then be added into a grand total using the calculation widget. How do I get the conditional calculation into a field that can be used later?

Could be possible to get an example about what do you want to achieve?
I made a sample form to show you how this will work, first off you will need to identify the question that will affect the calculation, in my example I will use the radio button field.
Once this is added I would recommend you to add a text box, this will get the value from the condition that you will make.
Now you will need to add the Form Calculation value and here you should include the value of the text box that you added, the one where will be added the calculated value from the condition, here you will be able to use this value and apply other calculations.
The condition that you will use will be "Update/Calculate Field" and it should look like this:
You may add other operations if you want and the result will be added in the field named in my form as "Value", this will be automatically added to the calculation as well.
If you will not add other values and make other calculations with the conditions then you may assign values to the selections on a drop down, radio buttons and check boxes, to do this take a look on this guide: https://www.jotform.com/help/301-How-to-Assign-Calculation-Value.
Here is the link where you will see my form working: https://form.jotform.com/61126424117951.
