Email notifications duplicating

    Hi guys

    I have an import quote form and an export quote form and for each we have form submissions going to 3 of our email addresses. Problem is we are getting duplicates and I can't seem to stop it.

    I have searched and tried the solutions others have tried but still we receive doubles.

    Any suggestions, thank you.

    It seems like this is a duplicate thread, please refer to this link instead: https://www.jotform.com/answers/827498. I have answered the same concern you have there. Please also post your replies there if you have follow up questions or concerns related to it. Thank you.

    sorry to say the linked given does not bring me to the suggested thread but simply to my list of forms.  Have you made the target thread "private" and thus not accessible to others ?

    I often have this issue with your redirects to other threads.  This is very frustrating as I feel I'm being led down dead-ends rather than being helped through confuising duplicate threads.

    I'll bring up the issue in one of myIDEAS threads.

    @jalsa1

    This duplicate thread here is set to public, the other one I mentioned in my reply is private so you are the only one who can view it, as long as you are logged in you should be able to see it here in the forum if you clicked the "My Questions" button. I would also like to mention that when a thread receives a reply or when you open a new thread, it will not be visible in the forum list immediately, it will need to be handled first by the support team before it goes out in the forum list view. This is to ensure that the new threads or replies on a thread are not spams. Thank you for your understanding.

    @CscProvidence

    That is correct, if you click a thread and you are directed on your "My Forms" list, then that means the thread is either set to private or has been deleted. Anyone can set their thread to private or public. In some cases we, the support team, sets it to "Private" if we see that personal information like emails and other data is inappropriate to display in the public. Our public forum posts can easily be seen in search engine results so we do not really want personal information to be searchable. Apologies for the confusion. I see you already have a couple of threads, me and my colleagues will address them accordingly. Thank you.

    The problem thus remains that the support team sometimes refers/redirects to other threads which turn out to be private and therefore a dead end for the user in need.  This happens quite often... to me.

    As an example, your first reply up above leads to such a dead end :

    I don't have access to the thread in question and thus can't get to the 'answer'.  If I ask a similar question, will I be redirected to this dead end ?

    Support needs to check the refered to links are not private, thus accessible to inquiring minds.

    @CscProvidence, that given link was not meant for you, was meant for the owner of the thread which is jalsa1. That's why only that user can see the thread.

    On private threads, you need to be logged with the username that owns the thread in order to see it.

    Which makes using a forum format inappropriate.  All users are lead to find the beginning of a what could be a solution to their own situation by allowing a search in public posts related to their needs.. only to end up, all too often, with redirects which are inaccessible because they are more of a ticket between a customer and support than a forum discussion.

    Those redirects to private threads should also have a redirect to a public counterpart, maybe a FAQ relating to the situation, possibly created after the issue with the one customer is resolved. No more dead ends, everybody lives happely forever after.  ;)

    Not certain if any system allows for this, but it could be as "simple" as if a redirect ens up to private thread there is an alternate link for the system to reroute the user to ?  A: 'Oops, you can't go there but here's somewhere you can get some help with your issue' instead of being teleported to our own list of forms for no apparent reason.  Obviously, there's already a (single) default alternate path. Is the system able to have a specific/relative alternate path ?  When none are available, it could go to page with some song and dance about needing to contact support with the specifics of the issue ...

    If threads contain sensitive information, personal email addresses and such, we need to keep them private for security purposes.  It would be quite difficult to attach a redirect to an appropriate guide to each private thread, more often than not, solutions are form specific.

    If you even need help with a specific form and cannot find the solution in one of our guides creating a new thread is the best way to get assistance.  Our most frequently used guides can be found here:

    I guess it makes sense, if you don't mind getting similar questions over and over.

    There is no good way to catalog things so everyone can be happy, is there ?

    Lots of reading ahead for me ...  But it's all too easy to ask then search through forums, FAQs, ... or even read the documentation or just find the right document to read.

    We definitely don't mind helping with as many questions as people have.  If you ever need assistance with any of your forms, let us know and we will be happy to help.
