I have hidden comment fields on the form which I intend to use when the responder submits the document. How can I access the hidden field on the submitted document so I can make the necessary comments in the response?

I understand that you want to edit the submission received to add comments. To achieve this requirement, you may place a text box as shown below to enter a secret code which will be known to the reviewer.

Based on the code entered we can show the hidden fields by using a condition.

You may place the Submission edit link in the notification email so that the form receiving person can directly open the submission from the email to edit it.
