Asked by rpete40819 on May 21, 2016 at 08:29 PM

Is it possible to have the reply to in the notification email be the submitter's email instead of noreply@jotform.com.

    Thanks!

    Thanks for the response.

I think I should have provide more info on what I am trying to accomplish.

I am trying to setup an auto reply rule in Outlook using a custom template and in order to make it work I need to have the email address of the person submitting the form in the "From" field.

Any help would be much appreciated.

You can achieve this using a 3rd party email service like Mandrill.

    Check our user guide also:

Your latest response came out empty on this thread https://www.jotform.com/answers/844140 .But I was able to see it on my email (see above highlighted texts).

I aplogize, I was over thinking the requirement. It wa actually actually in the form Notification E-mail already.

If you check the Notification of your form, in the RECIPIENTS tab, you can assign already an email field as the Reply-to-Email

Since it is the email field assigned as the Reply-To-Email, the reply email will be able to detect the email address of the submitter.

    Example:

Take note that there should be an E-mail field in the form that can be used as the Reply-To-Email target in the Notification.

Hope this is clearer. Let us know if you need further assistance.

    Sorry for the confusion.

I am not sure what is going on because those are the way I had my setting but it still does not work.

This is what I get when I try to manually reply to the message.

I checked few of your forms and I couldn't find a form that is set up with Reply-To email in that manner.

Could you please provide us with a form where you had Reply-To email set up so we can check further?

    We'll wait for your response.

    Thank you!

    Hi Nik,

The form I am trying to setup that way is "MTO Terms Of Service Agreement". When I look a the settings they look as you have described.

    Thanks for your help!

    Thank you for that information.

I cloned your form and did a test submission.

I put my hotmail email in the email field and Reply to was that email.

    You can see my submission:

    And Reply to:

Please try to remove notification email completely and add again.

I didn't change anything just cloned your form, so it should work without any problems.

Let us know how that worked.

    Thank you!

    Hi Nik,
I've deleted and recreated the notification and I am still getting "Rod Peterson [noreply@jotform.com]" in the from field on the email.
    Thanks for all your help.

    Hi,

I checked your form and made a submission to test the email. Unfortunately, seems like the solutions suggested above only changes the Reply To of the email. Please see below.

It will be difficult to set the From of the email based on the email entry of user in the submission because email standards require that sender email is verified and has proper SMTP settings so that the email will not end up in spam folder. Please see below on how to setup custom sender email address.

In your current auto-reply settings, where are replies being sent to? Are they being sent to emails in the Reply To or to emails in the From?

    Hi Chriistian,
Since the auto reply does appear to be working I can only assume that it is using the "From" field as opposed to the "Reply" field. I have captured and attached screenshots for what comes in from JotForm and what goes out from the auto reply.
    Thanks for your help.

    Hello rpete40819,

This looks like MS Outlook does not have the capacity to read Reply-To parameters on the emails they receive. This is the reason why clicking reply, it does not recognize the reply-to address field set. So you are limited to what is left provided options by JotForm's email alert settings.

    Warm regards.

    Hi liyam,
Based on the previous email I had guessed that would be the case. I will need to re-think my process and see if I can come up with an alternative to using email.
Thank you and please thank everyone who tried to help me with my issue.
    Regards,
    Rod

I am having the same problem. Even though I selected "email" for the recipient, it is only showing the recipient's NAME in the email reply. The address is still being sent to <noreply@jotform.com>.

    Very frustrating.
