    Radio button "other" prefix e.g. {radio:other} will always return a single letter value taken from the first letter of the selected option

    Asked by karnallc on May 26, 2016 at 09:15 AM

    Hi,

    I was able to pre-populate most of the field from one form to the other form, but the only issue i am having is to pre-populate the radio button field.

    The initial form is food order preferences:

    After filling up the form an email is sent to the designated person to approve the request or not:

    Within the email this link is included:

    https://form.jotform.com/karnallc/clone-of-food-order-preferences?yourName31={yourName3}&yourEmail1={yourEmail}&dateFor81[month]={dateFor8:month}&dateFor81[day]={dateFor8:day}&dateFor81[year]={dateFor8:year}&timeFor91[hourSelect]={timeFor9:hourSelect}&timeFor91[minuteSelect]={timeFor9:minuteSelect}&timeFor91[ampm]={timeFor9:ampm}&estimateCount1={estimateCount}&location1={location}&location1[other]={location:other}&restaurant121={restaurant12}&restaurant121[other]={restaurant12:other}&yourOrder1={yourOrder}&specialRequest131={specialRequest13}

    Once the link is clicked this the pre-populated form that shows:

    As you notice the fields are populated the way i want it to, but in the radio button field the other field includes the first letter of the selected answer instead of staying blank. How can i remedy to this without deleting the other option out of the radio button field because i still want to give the person the choice to enter other choice if they want.

    Thanks in advance.

    I was able to reproduce that problem.

    When "other" prefix is used on radio button field e.g. {radioButon:other}, it takes the first letter of the defined option as its value.

    It has the same result when used on URL parameters.

    I have now raised this to our developers for a resolution. We will let you know here once this is fixed.

    Hi,

    Some changes have been made to what is acceptable for the prepopulations. If a value is not matched by any of the options it will fill the other field with this value.  This means the {radio} value will work as intended.  To make the change remove the radiofield[other]={radioField:other} portions of your url and just use radioField={radioField}

    Please let ius know if you have any problems or questions.

    Regards,

    Nicholas

    I was able to reproduce the problem on your form. I'm not quite though why it is not working on your form since it was working fine on my demo form.

    Here's the problem when I tried it on your form.

    I have re-opened this ticket so our developer will check and investigate this further.
