How can I test my form?

Asked by Peter on June 01, 2016 at 09:50 AM

I have users actively using a form all day.

I'd like to make a copy of my form, and once completed move the changes into "production" while maintaining the original form link.  Is there any way to do this?

If I understand you correctly, you would like to clone a form, make changes and use the URL of the original form so users will not be affected.

This is not possible unless you are using a custom URL. When creating a form, it has its own ID. This ID is placed in the URL:

Since you the clone form is a new form, it will contain a unique ID. If you would like the users to use this form they would require to enter the URL of the cloned form.

A possible solution would be to use a custom URL. After you have made all the modifications in the clone form, you can disable the custom URL of the original form and place it in the new form.

Thank you for your speedy reply.  Could I ask a follow up question...

If I have google spreadsheet integration set up with my original form, will my cloned form automatically write to the same spreadsheet?  Is it possible for both forms to write to the same document?
