Using Jotform to enable user posts?

Asked by vitathemes on March 25, 2012 at 10:07 AM

I wishto use Jotform to allow users to post to my site, including an upload of an image. The user will first be required to login then will be able to use the form to post to the site. I have seen other sites use this well and would like to know how it is done.

You cannot create login forms with JotForm, as we do not have membership features.

Also, your account will probably suspended with phishing suspicion.

I would use a seperate plugin for login, if you take a look at http://freevitathemes.com/submit-wallpaper/ they use Jotform in the way I wish to use it.

They use OneAll login to ensure users are logged in first, then it takes you to a Jotform form.

Yes, that is correct. You will have to use a separate application for the login page, as my colleague had indicated JotForm does not have such feature. But your other requirement is very much doable in JotForm, like the upload form. And I checked your account and you have such form already. We will assume then that you were able to sort it out already.

Thank you for using JotForm. Should you require assistance, just post here and we wil assist you.

Thanks, is there something that I need to do though in order to import the certain items to assign them to a post? For example, the upload image box should be the featured image, etc.

I am not quite sure I understand what you wanted to do. But if you are meaning to put an image in your form, there are at least 2 quick way you can do this.

    1. Using the image field in Power Tools

    2. Using the Free Text(HTML) field also in Power Tools

Using the Free Text(HTML), you can create an html tag to your defined image file url. While the image field has a wizard to guide you in putting images on the form.

I hope I was able to help you in any way.

Sorry, this is what I want to do; I wish to use the input form to allow users to add posts to the site. At the moment my site asks the user to fill in a form which is then emailed to me, I then create the post accordingly through the Wordpress dashboard.

However, I wish to take out the middle man, aka me, and take the details from the form and post instantly to the site. Thus, taking my form as an example, the title the user inputs would become the post title, the image they upload would become the featured image, the radio buttons would decide the parent category while they check boxes decide the sub-categories and the description would be the body text of the post.

Thank you for the details. Now I understand better.
Unfortunately, the exact feature that you wanted is currently not readily available in JotForm. What you wanted is almost similar to what you can do in this forum(post, comment, upload image, link). What you currently need is a full integration of JotForm forms to your wordpress comment/post message box. The nearest readily available feature that JotForm have is the feedback button : How to create a Feedback Button in Minutes , but it may lack other capabilities.

Yes you can share forms in wordpress : Adding Forms to Wordpress but again, this will not be treated as a post/comment message in your wordpress but a page instead that can be commented on.

The most extreme that can be done is to integrate your form into wordpress post/comment box. You can probably do this by having your forms source code How to download a source code of your form and programmaticaly integrated the code in the wordpress code.

You can also consider searching for a wordpress plugin editor that can allow html inserts in the post/comment box, then you can share your form in the post/comment box and this way the form might be included in the post/messages count in your wordpress site.

I hope this help you in anyway.
Thank you for using JotForm. If you have further clarifications and assistance please post here and we will attend to you.
