Repopulate Form Data by Facebook ID

Asked by antoniooi on March 28, 2012 at 12:04 PM

    Hi Guys,

    Assuming the following scenario:

    1. User login with Facebook account.

    2. User submit a form data called 'My Profile'.

    3. Same user login with the same Facebook account again on the next day to access the same form: 'My Profile'.

Assuming that the previously submitted data has not been deleted. Is it possible for JotForm to retrieve the data and populate it on the form for further editing and submission based on the combination of Facebook ID and other form field value, e.g. Customer ID?

    The 2nd question is:

Can we use the same concept of JotForm Email Alert Creation to retrieve form data based on the combination of Facebook ID and other form field value too, e.g. Customer ID? This will enable the display in HTML without data entry fields (read-only).

If the above two features have yet to be implemented by JotForm, I find it worthwhile to consider its business potential to JotForm due to the following reasons:

    1. When users are not allowed to delete their clients' data, they need more storage space from JotForm.

    2. Users will then find the Premium and Professional packages make even more senses to them and they need to upgrade.

    3. JotForm may be able to offer another separated storage increment service, say additional $1 per month for 1 more GB. Hence, additional 100GB will be additional $100 per month. Something like that. In addition, this will make JotForm's Facebook Integration feature make even more sense than before.

Just a thought. Any feedback will be highly appreciated.

    Thank you!

    Antonio

The answer is no. JotForms cannot have the capability to access and/or manipulate saved data.

Can we use the same concept of JotForm Email Alert Creation to retrieve form data based on the combination of Facebook ID and other form field value too, e.g. Customer ID? This will enable the display in HTML without data entry fields (read-only).

Again, no. This is not possible.

While we do appreciate your ideas, your suggestions are a little too advanced and would complicate an otherwise very simple and easy-to-use JotForm.

Not to mention that a form submission (w/o files) does NOT take up storage space, so the reasons you have enumerated are ungrounded.

Still, we feel glad that JotForm has advanced users that think "out of the box", so to speak. Who knows, our developers might feel the need to implement these ideas in the near future.

Again, thank you for your inputs, and thank you for using our services.

If I were JotForm, I will do that because by having JotForm, any users with some basic web development background can build a full-blown web app without hiring an expensive development team and perform lengthy coding. Although I used to be a software architect and senior web developer, I'm now focusing myself more on digital marketing and do not want to spend too much of my time on coding.

About storage space consumption, for my case, my subscribers need to upload their trainer profile and I also allow them to upload unlimited course contents for them to offer their training programs on my website.

I feel that if JotForm can provide those as mentioned, they really help a lot of those small businesses to grow and potentially capable of competing side-by-side with some of the mid-size companies.

It's OK if you think they are 'impossible', but I hope JotForm will consider it eventually. I also hope that I can grow together with JotForm too! Of course, I can hunt for other form providers for other alternatives, but I still choose to propose this idea to JotForm because I like JotForm and I feel comfortable using it.

    Cheers,
    Antonio
