Languages: Submission emails does not display the translated texts of checkbox, dropdown & radio button fields options.

Asked by hatzbs on July 24, 2016 at 09:13 AM

Translation into Hebrew - while the see the options on the screen in Hebrew, the email output is coming out in English.

Is there a way to change it so the email comes out in Hebrew as well without re-writing the whole form into Hebrew?

You may try to add a submission translation link based on a Google Translate service to the email template. It will let the person who receives the email, click on the link to open submission data in a Google Translate window.

    Translation link:

    https://translate.google.com/translate?u=https://www.jotform.com/submission/{id}

Is there a way for the system to pull from the translation I provide?

Unfortunately as of now it is not possible to auto translate the email contents. For this task the feature request ticket is still open in our system, but we cannot provide any ETA for when it will be implemented.

The alternate solution should be either to use the Google translation link (which I mentioned in previous post). Or you can update the email template, please check below screenshot:

But the responses are still going to be in whatever language they are
    captured in?

Actually the user responses stores in to the database, so whatever user will enter in the form fields (in what ever language), those will store into database. And exactly same response will be delivered in the email.

But what about preformatted answers (radio buttons, drop downs, etc)... in
our testing they did not convert to Hebrew even though it is a translatable
    field.

Is this happening on all of those selection fields on your end?

Please allow us some time to investigate this some more to check it for you.

Yes. All the selection fields show up in English instead of Hebrew regardless of what is showing up on the screen. It should be fairly simple, if I have it already translated to Hebrew, to show up on the email as Hebrew.

    Please do the following:

    1. Add multi language in your form https://www.jotform.com/help/298-How-to-translate-your-forms-to-different-languages

    2. Create a notification email for the English language.

    3. Create a notification email for the Hebrew language

    4. Add a conditional logic to send the English email when English is selected as the language. The same for Hebrew:

Basically, we have this guide but for autoresponder email, doing the same for notifier should work: https://www.jotform.com/help/334-How-to-Change-Email-Template-Sent-Based-on-the-Language-Used

I hope that helps and please let us know if you require additional assistance.

When I did this, all that I received was the Hebrew titles, not the choices or any answers.

I have checked email notification template of your Form for Hebrew language. The things at right columns of email template which are written inside of curly braces "{}" should be the actual name of the fields, that is those should be written in English language (with correct field name). And the field name written inside the curly braces converts in to the values (or answers) submitted by user.

    Please check the screenshot:

In your form, the field names are respectively {test}, {test2}, and {test3}. So those should be written in exactly same way in right column, then only you will get the correct value or answer in email notification.

If you are not sure how to get the field names, please check this article: https://www.jotform.com/help/146-How-to-find-field-IDs-and-names

    Hello hatzbs,

Please note that the submission data will not be translated. If the user inputs data in Hebrew, the submission email will also display the input data in same language.

There seems to be an issue with the dropdown, checkbox & radio button fields where the translated texts are not being displayed in the notification emails. The form does display the translated texts correctly but the submission email only displays the texts of default language.

I am reporting it to our backend team. We will get back to you as soon as we have any update from them.

    Thank you!
