Unique ID: Ability to conditionally generate an ID only when a certain selection is made

Asked by JulieLabrosse on August 03, 2016 at 01:10 PM

    Hi

I am having a probleme with my form called : NEW EN - Carte cadeau | Au Premier Coiffure Spa

This form was created to sale gift cards. I am using an ID field so every gift card a sale has its ID. The thing is I only want some of them to have an ID. So when the client selects Deliver by email (see screenshot 1) I want the gift card to have a ID but if he selects Go Search the gift card at the counter or Deliver by mail I don't want the gift card to have an ID. I tried using conditions (see sreenshot 2) but it dosen't work. Can you help me ?

Okay, so to summarize you mean you want the ID Field to show up for some users but not others based on the user selection.

You are referring to your Certificate Number Field, correct?

Also, I see you have the Certificate Number listed in both (2) autoresponders as your notifications but it seems to me that maybe you are only trying to change and send those with or without the ID listed in it depending on the selection. The reason it's not working is because you have both in there so it's just sending those only.

To make it work that way you'll actually need at least a 3 for your gift or 4 if you want both so that 2 of them contain the ID to show it and 1 or 2 of them without it such as with your gift card that you could send not to show it.

I would also recommend this guides to help you more:

Hi, I need the ID to not be generated when my client selects something else than by mail. If I make some autoresponder for those specific choices ... I believe the ID will be Generated but will no be showing right ? This is not what I need...

Thank you very much for the clarification. If we understand it correctly now, you want your Unique ID widget to generate a value only if a certain selection has been made on your form. I have adjusted the title of this support thread accordingly.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to disable the Unique ID from generating values. As Unique ID is intended to be unique for each form submission, it is generated by our servers only after a form has been submitted.

Disabling Unique ID with "disable" conditional rules would have no effect, as the conditions are executed until the submission, and Unique ID is generated upon/after submission.

I have forwarded a feature request to our developers, to have the ability of conditionally disabling Unique ID from being generated. While we can't give you any estimates on when or if it might get implemented by our developers, as soon as such a feature becomes available, we'll make sure to update you through this support thread,

    Thank you.
