Is there a way to also transfer the purchase details of the products created outside the PayPal payment field to PayPal's Order Summary list?

Asked by grade4pagasa on August 07, 2016 at 05:24 PM

    Hi Jan

I cloned the form you provided to learn how the payment services work. I enabled the Sandbox Mode to test how it will push through to PayPal. I noticed that even though I placed 3 ticket orders (fig. 1), the PayPal order summary only shows 1 Quantity and doesn't have a description of the ticket I bought (fig. 2).

1.) Is there a way to pipe the actual quantity of tickets bought and the product description in the PayPal order summary?

2.) Say I have 3 products, will the PayPal order summary still show 1 Quantity and just the aggregate total?

3.) How can I include taxes in the Paypal Payment Wizard? And will this show separately or itemized in the PayPal order summary?

    Appreciate the help.

    - Randy

1.) Is there a way to pipe the actual quantity of tickets bought and the product description in the PayPal order summary?

I'm afraid with the workaround my colleague, Jan, have provided in the previous thread, there is no way we can pipe the actual quantity of the tickets bought and the product description to the PayPal Order Summary list. Since the payment field(PayPal) would only recognize one product/donation/custom-amount being passed from the form and that is "Description".

2.) Say I have 3 products, will the PayPal order summary still show 1 Quantity and just the aggregate total?

Yes, because the PayPal payment field only shows one item being passed and that is the total amount of  all the tickets that's being selected from the Inventory widget to the Form Calculation widget.

3.) How can I include taxes in the Paypal Payment Wizard? And will this show separately or itemized in the PayPal order summary?

Taxes can only be added to products added in the payment field, however, it is not applicable to subscriptions, user-defined amounts, and donations.

Tax will appear like this in the order summary:

Also, I believe, there is no way we can apply a different tax for each product. But, you can make exemptions in the payment field wizard if you don't want to apply a tax to certain products.

You can add a different tax for each item/product, only if the product is outside the payment field (like the one shown in the form you've cloned from Jan). You can include the tax computation in the Form Calculation widget before it is passed to the payment field.

If you want to have an order summary that looks like this:

You need to add the products in the PayPal payment field.

However, the big difference is that you will not have a way to limit the number of tickets available and show your respondents how many tickets are still available.

I hope this answers your questions. If you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us anytime. Thank you.
