Date Time Field: Ability to keep current date even when editing submissions.

Asked by XSquire on August 25, 2016 at 02:54 AM

Hi. When I return to a form to edit it at a later date my "Current Date" field remains at the date of the original form submission. Is there any way to override this so that the actual current date shows? I already have the date field set to display "current date".

To summarise your request, There is a dateTime field on your form and it has a default value of the current date. However, If your customers edit your form with {edit_link} function at a later date it is showing the previous date as a current date. Unfortunately, when you click the Edit submission link it is prepopulating the previous data. You need to change it manually while you're re-submitting the form.

I've tested it with the current time. It showing the previous data when I click on the edit submission as you see below:

Thanks Beril. As several fields in this form rely on the actual current date to calculate correctly I need found a workaround for the date not updating to current date. Is it possible to have the current date updated conditionally at all? Say if "name" is filled then insert current date into "field"?

I have tested this and even on widgets this works the same way, when you set the current date as default it will work only when you're filling the form the first time, but when you're editing a submission the submitted date will remain so it  needs to be manually changed.

Actually, I've tested with conditions and I could not find an option to set up a custom date with conditions, I have also tested with the Form Calculation widget, but I cannot find a function to set a custom date either.

If you want we could escalate this to our second level, the requirement would be to keep the current date value when editing a submission or at least an option to choose between keep the current date or not when editing a submission.

Also, please do note that feature request may take some time to be available.

Please let us know, we will be glad to escalate this thread to our second level.
