The word limit function on my survey is not working

Asked by mking1423 on August 30, 2016 at 02:55 PM

Several fields have word limits on them, but Jotform is not allowing respondents to enter in anywhere near the limited amount of words. Some examples:

A 500-word limit field only lets you input 197 words

A 250-word limit field only lets you input 99 words

A 150-word limit field only lets you input 99 words

There might be a conflict with the 'Max Length' parameter which is specifying the limit in characters. I would like to suggest clearing that parameter on your Text Areas.

Please give it a try and let us know if you need any further assistance.

My Properties screen looks very different than the one you are displaying. Here's what I'm seeing:

I should have added this: this survey was originally created using the Properties screen you did show, but in the last week or so that page was replaced by the one I showed you above.

    Sorry for the confusion.

We just updated our properties wizard with a new one but you can still access the old wizards by adding &old in the address bar URL while working in the form builder or you can visit this URL.

If you want to go back with the new wizard, you can replace &old with &test like this.

By the way, I have cleared the max length limit (as mentioned by my colleague) in your textarea fields for your convenience. There is no action needed on your end. Your word limits should be working now.

If you have other forms you want to correct its limit, you can access its old wizard using the given solution.
