How do I send a JotForm field value for verification to an external website and receive a response?

Is there any way to insert a widget (or similar) that collects a string of data and then will go out to a specified URL where the data string is pasted into a separate form field that runs through a database verification process and then return the results to my JotForm users?

It may be possible to send a value of the field from JotForm to another website using POST method after submitting the form, but unfortunately, there is no direct way to receive the values back from the other website.

It may be possible by developing an integration app if the other verification website has supporting API. If you can provide us with more information on the feature that you are looking for, we may be able to send a feature request to our backend team for evaluation. However, we cannot guarantee that the feature request will be accepted or any ETA for the implementation if accepted.

    Hope this information helps!

What additional information on the feature do you need? I’m looking into the question about supporting API.

The website that you are trying to integrate so that we'll see if they are exposing their API for integrations and the verification process that you are looking for would help us in this regard. It would be better if you can provide us an example.

    Thanks!

I understand you don’t normally offer support via phone, but this is a bit more custom and requires more detail. Any chance I can get a call scheduled with someone to speak about this?

Unfortunately, it is not possible since we are not offering telephone support yet. Since we use this support forum to forward the issues to our backend team and the feature of attaching images/videos would help in understanding better about the issue. You may attach the screenshots to your forum post (https://www.jotform.com/answers/921298) or record and share a video of your screen using Jing https://www.techsmith.com/jing.html.

    Thanks!

Hoping to follow up on this, specifically Kiran's comment about "developing an integration app".  I've engaged the people hosting/managing that website/database that I'm looking to query.  The website address is shown in the screenshot above and there is an API for their website.

This integration app would be a huge benefit to my company!  I own a telecommunications company that provides dial tone and hosted phone system service (like AT&T, Cox, Level 3, etc.).  Part of our sales/operation process includes "porting" customers' phone numbers away from their existing carrier to our platform.  Not all phone numbers can be ported so it becomes important for us to verify whether or not a customer's number is eligible for porting.  I use my form as a pricing calculator for my sales team and would like to have the ability to verify/validate the portability of any documented telephone number within that same form.  Currently, the only way we can do this is by logging into our provider's website and running this check.

What other information do you need from me to investigate the possibility of this integration app?

Generally, the feature requests are accepted for implemented based on the importance of the feature and number of requests we receive. Looking at the requirement provided by you, it looks like the integration app is specific to your website/company. Unfortunately, such customized integrations can only be done third party developers which you may hire from Upwork or Freelancer to achieve your requirement.

If you need to connect to JotForm APIs, you may access the documentation from the following web page.

Hope this information helps! Please get back to us if you need any further assistance. We will be happy to assist.
