Help with setting a URL

Asked on September 11, 2016 at 10:23 AM

Our organization had 2 forms up and running for registration for an event with two different dates.   Now the classes are full and we wanted the old links to go to new waitlists.   So I created the waitlists, went to the other registration forms and cleared their URL so the wait pages could now be set to those urls.

Well, wait list one worked just fine because it already had a custom URL   https://form.jotform.com/tsra/l2-class-1   as you can see it is now the wait list form.

However, the second registration page did not have a custom URL. So i cleared the URL off of the registration page to be used for the wait list.  I then tried to make the second wait list have they URL used before.  However, since it was not a custom URL it now forces TSRA before the URL which makes the link not work.

THE REASON we want it to have the same url is because it was used on a mass email that already went out when registration started.

Here is the form we want to show up  https://www.jotform.com/tsra/62425267160149   but we need it to not have the tsra/ in there and I can't control that.   Is this something you can help with?

    https://www.jotform.com/tsra/62425267160149   to   https://www.jotform.com/62425267160149

In the future I will make sure I give all pages custom URLS so we don't have this problem again.

Can you all go in and force change the URL for me?  Or can you setup a redirect or something?

    THANK you for your help.

You may reset the form back to its default URL (without the tsra username).

Just go to your FORM BUILDER > click PUBLISH at the top > LINK > then on the DIRECT LINK OF YOUR FORM section, click the reset icon.

That won't work because I am trying to save a new form with a different forms original link as described above.  Rresetting won't work in this scenario.   Can you please help?

The link originally went to a student questionnaire now we want that link to go to the waitlist.  So if I got reset the new waitlist link it won't go to the others link and if I customize it to have the others URL it then adds tsra/

    Please help!

When creating custom URL name for your form/s, it will always include your account/username in the URL (i.e. /tsra)

    User guide: How-to-Create-a-Custom-URL-of-a-Form

So this is something you cannot change in the Form Builder.

As my colleague already suggested, you can reset the form URL back to its default URL so it will not have the custom URL name anymore.

Is this not what you wanted to do? Please clarify so we can assist you properly.

We will wait for your response.

You guys aren't getting what I am saying.   We sent an email out that had this link in it  https://www.jotform.com/62425267160149     IT INITIALLY went to a registration form.   We now want it to go to a wait list.  I created a new form for the waitlist.   I am trying to force that URL to be the URL that went out in the email. SO that anyone that clicks on that link is now directed to the waitlist.

By trying to force the waitlist form to have the other forms URL it keeps adding TSRA in front of it .  Can you not go in and change it for me because I can't do it on this side.   If I reset it, it goes to its form number not the number from the other form that I am trying to replace it with.

THIS IS THE WAITLIST FORM THAT I am trying to force to have the link above.   https://www.jotform.com/tsra/62425267160149   If I go in and hit reset then it turns into https://form.jotform.com/62528093792161  that is not what I want it to do .....

What you are trying to achieve is not possible. Each form has it's on ID and ID of the form can not be changed, even from our end.

I would suggest you to send your users link of the waitlist form.

I also have possible workaround and that is to add link of you waitlist form to the Warning Message that is shown on your original form. Something like this.

    Demo form: https://www.jotformpro.com/form/62585349217968

This way they can copy the link of your waitlist form and open it in new browser tab.
