Is there a way to create a volunteer form? Time/item slots form.Asked by nhosy on April 18, 2012 at 12:28 PM
I would love to create a volunteer form where people can sign up for slots of time or bring specific items. It would be nice if others could then view the slots that are filled and by whom.
Let me know if this is possible with JotForm.
Thanks for contacting us. We have recently launched our form templates and we are happy to request you to check on the link. http://jotform.com/form-templates/. Once you find the required volunteer form, then you can clone it and use for your own use.
I hope this information will be helpful.
Basically, JotForm's Support Dept. answer is really "no".... "Not' reading the question, "Not" researching their site and then answering with "Go here and look around", is worse then not responding at all.
I looked hard (becasue I understood your question) and found nothing pre-made.
Hi, Sorry if we didn't capture your concerns well. We have volunteer forms that allows users to enter their registration details and select the best times they can offer volunteering.
If you like the form ,you can clone it and have a few customization to fit your situation and then you can use it. Here is the link of form i am referring to; http://jotform.com/form-templates/#volunteer-request-form
I think there's a big demand for this functionality.
I want volunteers to know what time/date slots are available and to be able to sign up for ONLY the slots that are.
The example problem is: I have an event that runs Saturday and Sunday. There are five 2-hour volunteer shifts on Saturday (10 hours), and four on Sunday (8 hours). I need 4 volunteers for each 2-hour shift.
It's nice to know that everyone wants to volunteer Saturday from 2 pm to 4 pm and that no one wants to volunteer Sunday from 10 am to noon, but it doesn't solve the problem. 10 volunteers for Saturday from 2 to 4 is just as bad as no volunteers on Sunday morning. If all I'm collecting is when people "want" to work or when people are "available" to work, it just makes more work for me to coordinate all of those volunteers.
This is the same as a simple version of a resturant table reservation algorithm - but simpler since each respondent is an individual. As soon as 4 people have "reserved" the Saturday 2 pm to 4 pm slot, that slot should be unavailable as a choice.

The form to which my colleague referred can be used along with the technique described in the thread titled How to display submitted data on the same page as the form (and illustrated here) to achieve your objective.
If you would like assistance with this, we'd be happy to help.
Thanks for all the feedback but this is still too complicated for me. My volunteers are never going to look at all this data. I use mysignup.com. What I love is that it's easy to set up, volunteers can see which slots have been filled and by whom (they can sign up with friends, change their slot if needed, very simple). What is not so great is that you can't embed it into your web page.
If you make changes that solves my volunteer form problems let me know!
We are looking for a possibility of implementing some kind of appointment forms and Google Calendar integration, I hope it will be useful for your volunteer form too.
Thank you for your feedback and sharing information about mysignup.com site.
We will update this thread if we get any more information for you.
I am looking for the same thing. I use signupgenius and was hoping you'd have something similar. : (
Our volunteers have moved on to signup genius as well. We still use mysignup.com for very large events with multiple volunteer slots that need to be filled. But we can't embed these forms... I'm still hoping JotForm can fix this for us one day but it has been more than two years...
Our appointment slots widget will get you close:
If there is something more specific you are looking for, please create a new thread with the specifics and we will be happy to see what we can do.
