    Save and continue later feature is not working.

    Asked by suesol on September 16, 2016 at 10:52 AM

    Two issues

    1 - My forms were set up so that a user could save their data and come back to it later. It worked -- I tested it multiple times before giving access to our users. AND the user was able to save his work & come back to the form (using the link auto generated by Jotform) multiple times. UNTIL he couldn't. The third time he went back, using the link provided, the work he did was not there. How is this possible? It doesn't really make sense that it worked and then it didn't...

    2 - I would like to retrieve the data that this user already did. Is this possible? If so, how?

    sessions My Forms JotForm then and

    Hello suesol,

    I did check your first form which creates the session and I was able to figure out the issue. The reason why your session data is not saved correctly because the session URL you have is not correct. It has two "?" which seems to be causing the issue. Please check the screenshot below:

    You have added the following URL in your thank you message:

    https://form.jotform.com/62276989603166?session={email84}?email84={email84}&name195={name195}&companyName={companyName}&yourTitle={yourTitle}&companyUrl={companyUrl}

    The correct form URL is:

    https://form.jotform.com/62276989603166?session={email84}&email84={email84}&name195={name195}&companyName={companyName}&yourTitle={yourTitle}&companyUrl={companyUrl}

    Please update your thank you message with the above URL and that should solve your problem.

    Hope this helps.

    Do get back to us if you have any questions.

    Thank you!

    Thank you! I'm a little confused though....
    1) Jotform auto generated this link. How was it wrong?
    2) I did a few tests of my own this morning -- and my work was saved in the
    2nd form -- I have gone back to it a few times and the data is still there.
    So not clear why it didn't work consistently work for him.
    3) Is it possible to retrieve the data this user had input -- before it
    disappeared?

    You should change the link that my colleague provide you inside of Autoresponder email as well. I also saw that you have opened another thread with the same issue. Please try to disable AutoFill feature as my colleague suggest on your other thread.

    Is far as I know session method links are manually created, like it is described inside of this guide:

    https://www.jotform.com/help/97-How-to-Save-Forms-and-Continue-Later

    How did Jotform generated link for you?

    I'm afraid that it is not possible to retrieve the data that you user has entered. Also I am not able to see image you provided. Please note that attached field will not be shown here on forum. You need to open your thread and upload your screenshot

    We updated the links you suggested. BUT when I fill in the FORM 1 and click the link provided to continue to Brand Exercises (see image I'm referring to below)....

    THIS (see image below) is what appears.

    The verifications of basic information are pre-filled with the (email84), etc..

    When I click through on the link provided to me via email, it works -- and the fields are empty.

    Please let me know how to fix this.

    Thank you,

    Susan

    Please open Thank You page, then remove URL that you have added. Then paste the URL that my colleague provide you:

    https://form.jotform.com/62276989603166?session={email84}&email84={email84}&name195={name195}&companyName={companyName}&yourTitle={yourTitle}&companyUrl={companyUrl}

    Then select that URL and click on Insert/Edit link option and paste the same URL there as well, click on OK and save changes.

    Here is my cloned form where I added fresh URL: https://form.jotform.com/62596990020964

    Repeat the same steps in Autoresponer email.

    It "mostly" works now...  There are three exercises in this form.

    The first two exercises don't seem to save unless the user completes that entire section of the exercise.

    The third section works fine.

    Please advise.

    Hello suesol,

    I am not sure if I have understood your question correctly.

    Do you mean to say that the first two page does not save the input data unless that entire page is completed? Please note that the input data of page is saved in session only when the next button is clicked. Since all the question of your page is required and you cannot move to next page until all the questions are filled, that could be the reason why the data is not saved in session.

    Thank you!
