Birth Date Picker: Ability to change the format of the submitted input from "date" to "text".

I am having a similar problem with birth date picker. The date is written out in Jotform (ie. January 7, 1968), but when I export to an Excel file, it changes it to 01/07/1968. I don't want it to convert to numbers. I merge the field into a letter, and I want it written out as January 7, 1968. How can I make sure it doesn't get changed into numbers in the Excel download? It didn't used to do this. Please help me fix it back to the way it was.

    Hello,

Unfortunately, it is the functionality of Excel that it changes its date to numeric value.

So what you can do is format the date to convert it back to a different date format. Here is a guide from office.com to learn how to convert the date to your preferred format: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Format-a-date-the-way-you-want-8e10019e-d5d8-47a1-ba95-db95123d273e

    Thanks.

But it just started doing this about a month ago. It used to keep it just the way it was. Isn't there anyway to set it back? The instructions above don't set it to that format for every file. I would have to go into the files every time I download them to change them. There should be a setting that tells Excel I always want it written out. Can't you set that field so Excel sees it as a text only field and not a date? (So it will never want to change it)?

Apologies for any inconvenience, however, I made some tests and I was able to reproduce the issue you're having. It's probably because the dates in the Birth Date Picker are recognized and are being submitted in a date format that is why it's being converted automatically by Excel.

What you can do for now is add an additional textbox field to your form and pass whatever value it is entered on the Birth Date Picker to that textbox field using conditional logic.

This way the format of the date in the textbox field is in text and not in date format.

You may want to hide the additional Birth Date textbox in your form so respondents will not be able to see it.

Also, I will submit a feature request, on your behalf, to add a way to choose the format of the value being entered in the Birth Date picker to our development team. However, I would like to apologize for I may not be able to guarantee that it will be available anytime soon. Our developers will also have to check its feasibility. You will just be updated via this thread if, in case, it becomes available.

    Thank you.
