Losing condtions (Not much of a question but more of a bug report).

    Hi everyone,

I am writing this thread to report a bug that I believe has been happening during setting up forms. I am writing it here to warn other Jotform users so they wouldn't make the same mistake.

I have noticed that if you open the form editor for more than one form on different tabs (mostly the goal is to copy information from 1 form to the other) opening conditions on 1 form might just show the conditions of the 2nd form opened and unknowingly you would add or edit your conditions and hit save. which will delete many of your existing conditions.

I know I am not explaining this well, but i will try.

So what happened (more than once):

I would open the editor for FORM 1 in one tab. Then open the editor for Form 2 in a second tab.

Then i would open the conditional formatting for FORM2 and try to copy some info to the conditions of FORM 1.

Doing that few times can somehow hide conditions you have already made on form 1 and if you save then they are gone forever.

My simple explanation for this issue was that maybe cookies from both form editors are getting mixed.

Admins if you have any better explanation for this or a prevention method I am all ears. Because i kind of lost 40 conditions last night that i must redo. Do you think using different browsers to open each editor can stop this issue?

    Hi,

Thank you for taking the time explaining and providing details about your concern.

Actually, the issue had to do with your procedure of opening in more than one instance of the Form Builder on the same browser (its different Tab, but it still the same browser).

The Form Builder have autosave script that gets triggered during the session. This means that whichever Form Builder was active at the time, the auto saved point will be for that session.

The way to avoid this issue is to not open multiple instance of the Form Builder anywhere on your computer if you're logged in to the same account.

You can have multiple instance of the Form Builder on different browser (i.e. open Chrome and Firefox browser) on the same account login. But make sure autosave is disabled on both instance.

But please understand that there is no guarantee that auto save session will not overlap via this process. To be always on the safe side, simply do not have multiple instance of the Form Builder opened on your browsers for the same account.

Hope this help. Let us know if you need further assistance.

Thank you for your quick reply. This is one of the main reasons my company decided to use jotform. We appreciate the effort you guys put into your customer service and upgrading your system.

One more request if it is possible to add.

I think it would be very helpful to me and I am sure for other users if Jotform implemented some type of note or comment adding on the conditions, which will make them visible inside the conditions tab. or maybe a grouping method where users can group their similar conditions. I hope you guys can do that.

I know I am asking for much. but also giving the conditions tab the ability to be full page width would make it more user friendly.

    Thank you again,

    MJ
