Can I ad a filed to download the submission as CSV or Excel? So a user gets a CSV/Excel file?

Could you please provide us with a bit more information on your inquiry?

Would you like to let users to download the form submission data?

    Any examples would be appreciated.

    Hi

    Thank you for the reply.

I want the user to be able to download a CSV or excel file.

    What we want:

We get data from users. The data need additional information.

We upload the data to our backend automatically, and when a CSV or Excel file is in the same folder, we can let our backend read out the data and ad it to the CMS of our backend.

With the PDF that a user can generate (By clicking Print and then choose save as PDF) this does not work good, or not at all. Not convenient.

If we ad the CSV ourselves, we would be spending a lot of time sorting them and adding them to the folders.

So if the user can fill out a form, and then sends submit, would be great if there would be a download CSV button. Or send to him via e-mail.

    Thank you,

    Roberto

    Hi Roberto,

Please check the Report to Cloud app here https://apps.jotform.com/app/reports_to_cloud

Email Alerts: Ability to send users a CSV file copy of their submission Image 1 Screenshot 20

It uses the Dropbox app to store the Excel report. So you can create a shared folder in Dropbox where the Excel data/report was stored.

You can use the link/URL of the Dropbox folder and send it to your user via the email. The user can then download the file via the URL link in the email.

Hope this help. Let us know if this will not work.

    Hi

Will check it out. but do we then have to manually create a link for each submitted form?

That would definitely not work. If someone is working on files he wants to submit, he does not want to wait for s link, someone creates. If no one is in the office, he may wait to the next day.

The easiest would be if the user would just be able to download it right away. (would this not be convenient anyway?

second best would be if the user gets a link or e-mail.

The app will send you an excel file on a daily basis but unfortunately, the app won't allow you to send an excel/CSV to your form submitters. We don't have a feature that would allow you to send this type of file to the user.

I would suggest sending your form submitters an autoresponder email instead: https://www.jotform.com/help/26-Creating-a-Form-Autoresponder

I see your response on the email but not on the thread https://www.jotform.com/answers/940575

This looks like the submitter will get an e-mail with the info, but not a CSV or Excel file.

I do not know why, but this would be the best thing to have, that the submitter will receive the file, so he can store it. The submitter can store the PDF, why not a CSV/Execl file?

Is there a reason for this?

I believe its because portable documents i.e. PDF file, is more used when attaching documents to emails.

As of now the submission data that the form users can received via the email is in PDF format.

If you have more facility (your own website/CRM) and programming available, you can also check on the Send Post Data method.

    User guide: How-to-send-Submissions-to-Your-MySQL-Database-Using-PHP

You can send the submission data on your own back-end database(your CRM perhaps) and then from there you can setup a task or cron that will trigger an email to the user wherein the submission data will be attached to the email in CSV/Excel file format.

Hope this help. Let us know if you have more inquiry.

We used to download a csv formatted file via http link with curl.  The link no longer works. Is there a way to download form data without a webhook?

and will there be a submission option for CSV/excel? We will get folders with files. And lets say 1000 folders. We then do not want to sort 1000 csv Files into the folders. And this then continuos. PDF are not good readable from our CMS. Maybe not at all.

We do not currently have the option to send CSV or Excel files for individual submissions attached to email notifications or autoresponders.

We have forwarded this support thread as a feature request to our developers, to have the ability to attach Excel or CSV files of individual submissions to email alerts. We cannot provide you with any kind of ETA on when this feature would be developed, or even if it will be accepted by our development team and worked on any time soon. However, if there are any updates in this regard, we'll let you know through this support thread.

As of the functionality that we do have available, we can only get ALL your form submissions on a single Excel or CSV file by setting up an Excel or CSV report:

    https://www.jotform.com/help/101-How-to-create-an-Excel-Report

    https://www.jotform.com/help/103-How-to-Create-a-CSV-Report

Each time you / your CRM software would use the link to access your report, it would download the file with all your existing submissions on that form at that time.

If you needed individual Excel / CSV files separate for each submission, you would either have to create it by your own backend as previously suggested by our colleague above, or wait until such a time that this feature possibly gets implemented within JotForm.

    Thank you.
