Hi,
I am handling the contact form for Misschocolate.com
I was a little surpised to discover we had 1000 submissions this month.
Seems high. Anyway to determine if all the submissions are real v. some software glitch
If it is over our limit, then we will just sign up for a monthly upgrade.
But as of today, I am reaching out to some of the tech guys to see if this makes sense (# of submissions) to them.
So I may need a day or two to 'upgrade' if that turns out to be the case.

I have checked your account and you have reached the views limit, it is different than the submissions limit, as you are using a free account you're allowed to receive 100 submissions only, but you can get 1,000 views in your forms.
Please do note that each time that the webpage where your form is embedded on counts as view, no matter if there is a submission or not.
I would suggest you to check your forms in our Form Analytics tool in order to find which forms are getting more views, here is the link to the tool: https://www.jotform.com/form-analytics/
Currently seems like the form with ID 22145390219146 has received more views.
I have also re-calculated your views counter and it is 924 now, you can also see the limits for your account and the current usage by going to this link: https://www.jotform.com/myaccount/usage
Also, please check our pricing page to find the limits per account: https://www.jotform.com/pricing
Please if you have any question, let us know, we will be glad to help you.

1 comment and 2 questions.
Comment:
So strange, because we have done nothing different this year from year's past especially with the front page and contact page of our website. Our business revenue has been about the same as well. Nothing materially different in the way we market etc...
I have attached screenshot of the views:
Questions
1)Is it possible that Jotform is counting views differently than in the past? Can it be a code issue?
2)Does the month usage end on the 1st of the month?
Thanks
Jess

1)Is it possible that Jotform is counting views differently than in the past? Can it be a code issue?
As far as I know, views are counted the same now as they were when the limit was implemented. With the exception of form previews from the form builder no longer counting towards the total. That, however, would actually cause the total to be lower than normal.
2)Does the month usage end on the 1st of the month?
Yes, form usage reset on the 1st day of each month for all users.
If you want unlimited form views limit, you can allow JotForm to display ad (Powered By JotForm) in the footer section of your forms. To do so, just check "JotForm Footer" on your settings page https://www.jotform.com/myaccount/settings. You should see "unlimited used" in your account status after that under Form Views.

emmabaker1Replied on September 29, 2016 at 5:46 PMAgain, Thank you for the response.
We still have this unusual problem.
The page is getting 100’s of views and yet only a few submissions.
We can’t figure out why there has been a significant change to our submissions this last month, considering that we have done nothing new or even made any changes to the website.
Our Host provider was wondering if there is a access log that you might have to pass along so we can better investigate.
And, any thoughts on why our submissions would go up so drastically for apparently no reason?
Thanks for any info you can provide.

You can view each forms activity using form analytics:
https://www.jotform.com/form-analytics/
This will give you a list of IP's that viewed the form and a time stamp for when they viewed it.

emmabaker1Replied on October 3, 2016 at 6:45 PMDavid,
So far this month we have had 128 submissions in 3 days. And 1 RESPONSE.
There is something wrong with this.
The IP addresses don’t really tell us why this is happening.
Any chance you can take a look at the code to see if there is something going on?
It would be much appreciated.
We juste can’t seem to figure this out. And there should not be 128 submissions or views to our contact page in 3 days.
Thanks so much for the help.

So far this form 22145390219146 has 138 views and indeed there is only 1 response.
Please do note that a view does not mean that there should be a submission, this is a different limit and they could be different.
Now, do you have the traffic log of your website?
I have set up the Form Analytics and the number given above is the one about the views you're received, if you have a number to compare the views counter from JotForm would be great so we can escalate the thread to our second level and our developers will investigate it.
-
emmabaker1Replied on October 4, 2016 at 8:45 AMI can look for the traffic log, but I don’t think we have one for the contact page that is in question.
But to my earlier point, nothing has changed on the site or the specific page that the ‘contact form’ is on.
And a longer look at our analytic page shows something odd started in September 2016.
However, practically speaking, no one would be just ‘viewing’ a 'contact page’ to fill out a form then not fill it out….and if they did, it certainly wouldn’t be 100 visitors to one ‘response.
Thanks again.
I will let u know about any traffic logs.

I tried to check the Form analytics of your form: http://www.jotform.us/form/22145390219146. I am able to see on September 29, 2016, there were total 114 views made on your Form, which is the maximum count of this week.
You can also check the IP-address details, Browser details, Location details of the user who viewed your form, from the Form analytics page.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.
Thanks.
-
emmabaker1Replied on October 4, 2016 at 11:45 AMI see that. Thanks.
But this is a Contact Page. We only get about 1 submission. So it is confusing that we have all of a sudden received so many views while only getting our normal rate of submissions…. i.e 1-2 / day!
This is what we are trying to figure out.
Please advice why you think this is the case.
We have made no changes to our website or this page or the form.

Please do note that, as I explained above, you have embedded your form in a webpage, each time the webpage is loaded then the views counter is increased for that form, it does not matter if there is a submission or not, for example, you may not receive a submission, but the views counter may still increase because the webpage where the form is embedded on is being loaded, this is why I suggested above to check this webpage traffic, this way you will know the times the page was loaded and you can compare this number with the number given in the Analytics tool.
Otherwise there is not much that you can do to prevent this since you cannot avoid your users to open the Contact Us page.
However, with the data we could forward this to our second level if there is a difference between the metrics, so our developers will investigate and correct this.
-
emmabaker1Replied on October 4, 2016 at 1:45 PMI understand what you have explained….
but our Contact Page is on: http://misschocolate.com/contactus.html and
our home page is: http://misschocolate.com/
And what’s strange, as I have mentioned previously, is that this behavior of increased views is new. Nothing else has changed in our business. Nothing else has changed on our website. Nothing else has changed on our home page or contact us page.
Our business is approximately the same size. But as you can see from this chart below, we have had a huge spike in September.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

Does your site have any sort of analytics to check visitors and such? Without knowing the actual numbers from your pages, it a guess whether or not your forms or the pages the forms are embedded to are receiving the traffic. All we can tell from our end is whether or not the form views are legitimate and they do look to be actual views.
