    Feature: Google Calendar Integration

Asked by AndrewN on April 26, 2010 at 12:06 PM
I know I keep harping on about calendars, but my client is anxious!

Would it be possible, rather than to use a plain vanilla DHTML calendar report as promised, to be able to report out data from a submit form in a format acceptable for import/upload into a Google Calendar?

I'm thinking this might be possible now using a CSV report, but I'm thinking I'll need to figure out exactly what Google needs in a CSV upload for this to work.  My first attempts failed.  I'd welcome any helpful suggestions from anyone out there...

    Thanks,
    A

IT's OK - I figured it out after finally finding googles CSV file format and column header requirements.

Actually, it turns out that it's not OK.  After several hours effort, it seems that the format of the data returned to the CSV file is inconsistent with Google.  For example, a start time field with date and time returns a value 04 26 10 7 00 pm.  Google cannot handle this.  It needs date and time in two separate columns; and the date has o be 04/26/10, and the time 07:10 PM.  I am able to create a date field without time; but not a time field without date.  Also, since the data in the csv file doesn't match requirements, I'd have to manually edit the csv file before uploading.

So, does Jotform plan to provide more flexibility in data reporting such that the appropriate format could be selected to make this work?  Also, could you separate the time and date fields on the report?

I guess I could create custom text fields and force the formatting, but it would be nice if this were more automatic.

Many thanks...I know it must be crazy at Jotform at the moment, but any guidance would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Andrew

I think we can setup integration with Google Calendar. We will look into that.

That would be terrific.  I have it working using text fields and asking the user the use a specific entry format...but it's risky and would prefer that actual date and time fields could be used on the form to deliver the right format to Google.

    Keep up the good work!
