Problem using File Upload field within Edmodo app on Android

Hi. Thanks for any help you may be able to give. Im testing Jotform for some mobile educational learning experiences in outside locations, using various other apps like Aurasma and Edmodo. Im testing in up to date Android phones. I would like my learners to be able to access a Jotform from Edmodo, for ease of use.

All fields in my Jotform work well when accessed from outside of Edmodo, ie using Chrome or Firefox etc on a normal webpage, but Edmodo forces ANY web links to be accessed using their own app browser (eg like Facebook) and when I access my Jotform in this way, the file upload field becomes inactive. I have tried adding the Jotform link directly and on a webpage/iframe and this all behaves the same, ie field remains inactive. Edmodo seems to have no setting to change how weblinks are opened and viewed. I have also contacted Edmodo about this as everything else works very well in Jotform for my purposes. I suspect this issue is the same when using iPhone or iPad but have not tested that.

Any suggestions to get this working?

    Hi,

I have done a little research about Edmodo. As far as I see it is an app to get teachers and students connected. I have downloaded the app to a Windows phone. Created an account and sent the cloned version of your form as an attachment to an assignment.

I have created another account to reach that assignment. I have opened your form through that account and the form indeed loaded on Edmodo itself. And I have replicated the issue as well, File Upload field is not functioning.

However, I do not think that there is anything we can do about this since it's the preference of Edmodo to load links in its own. And their in-app browser seems to disable upload fields like ours. There should be many other limitations too.

Please let us know what Edmodo thinks about this. Then we can investigate what we can do to resolve this issue.

Thank you so much for reporting this. Please contact us again if you need any further assistance.

Hi, thanks for prompt response. I've since also tested the form in Aurasma and the same thing happens as it too forces all urls to open in it's own browser. In terms of the form functionality, all other fields including the location coordinates map work very well inside the app browsers and submit data to your server, only the file upload field doesn't work and is inactive. I don't think Edmodo or Aurasma will be able to help so I will have to distribute a url another way, perhaps via SMS. Certainly, the Jotform, with its GPS and mobile multimedia uploads will be hugely useful to my project as I can visualise a map of user feedback and associate media content with these reports. So thanks! Ill keep you posted if Edmodo or Aurasma come back with any suggestions.

Thank you for getting back to us and for information provided.

Certainly, you can send a link of form in another way, please check Sharing possibilities of our forms. You can share your form's link via Email, Facebook, Twitter etc.

If you receive any update from Edmodo, please let us know.

    Thank you!
