To publish or not to publish? Can the form be updated?

Hello, can you let us know what some of the reasons would be to publish a form? It seems as if the link works fine for those who do not have/use Jotform. Can you explain the publishing feature?

Also, we currently are using Jotform for event rsvps. Each rsvp must drop off or mail a check to our office. Is there a way update the excel spreadsheet with check numbers as the checks come in? Or will we have to keep a separate list?

    Thanks!!

The main goal of publishing a form is for you to be able to embed it on a page/website that you own. (e.g. if you have a page named https://mywebsite.com/orderform/ then it's way better to embed the form on that page rather than giving the Form URL to your users/respondents).

If you don't have a website/page or if you don't intend to embed your form, then you won't need to publish it.

Since we aim to stick with 1 question/issue per thread, I have moved this question to a separate thread https://www.jotform.com/answers/978672 We'll have it addressed there shortly.
