    404 error for uploaded files

Asked by deadcenterfilm on November 02, 2016 at 12:37 PM

We have a form that allows filmmakers to upload screenplays in .pdf for consideration for a screenwriting intensive. When I went to download the attachments, I keep getting the following error - "Unfortunately, the page you were looking for could not be found. It may be temporarily unavailable, moved or no longer exists. Please check your spelling and retry."

We have many submissions, so re-requesting files directly from each applicant is not an option...exactly why we used a form for this process. What is going on?

Images and file uploads should now be working once again. Let us know if they are still not working and we will be happy to have a closer look.

I checked your form and all files are accessible.  Try clearing your browsers cache/cookies and checking again.  They should be working at this time.

I have cleared history/caches on two separate browsers. Still unable to access several files.

Please provide a sample URL for a file that is not working and I will see what the cause may be.

I was able to download the files from all of those URL's:

How odd...I checked each before sending over, but now they appear to be working.

This one still is not: https://www.jotform.com/uploads/deadcenterfilm/62786115160151/352359733765339252/GENETIC%20MEMORY.pdf

What is the cause of this?

I check this file and it is accessible as well:

I was able to download the PDF without issue.

We are making privacy updates to file uploads that are causing file URL's to change.  Unfortunately, there are some unintended results that were not seen in testing.  We removed the update and files should be working as they were before.

This should now be fixed for new submissions and for any images added to forms.  All newly generated PDF's should also have the correct file URLs.  Any previously submitted forms that have incorrect URL's can be viewed directly from your JotForm account:

    https://www.jotform.com/help/269-How-to-View-Form-Submissions

The correct URL's will be included there.
