PDF Submission: headers and text are shown in the PDF, even though they are conditioned to be hidden.

I have created a "Retainer" form that has lots of Conditional Logic on several fields. One such field is a drop down selection field entitled Type of Case allowing for a selection of either family law, criminal law pre-filing, criminal law pre-trial, criminal law trial. When one of the choices is selected, it should only display the associated relevant text (html). For example, if you select family law, only the family law retainer text should show on the pdf. It functions (hides and shows) properly in the web page fill out the form stage, but when the completed and submitted form is then emailed as a pdf, the pdf does not hide text that should not be visible because of the drop down selection. Instead, the pdf displays all text (headers and text) from the entire form.

Go to your submissions dashboard, and then click on the gear icon, make sure to check the auto-hide empty fields option: https://www.jotform.com/help/269-How-to-View-Form-Submissions

I did already have both the Auto Hide Empty Fields & Show Headers and Texts boxes checked. Still have the problem described.

I see what you mean, I have replicated this in a simple test, example:

    1) I created two conditions to show header and text depending on a selection:

    2) It does work on the web-form as intended:

    3) However, in the PDF submission, all headers and text are shown:

I have forwarded this to our second level, you will be notified via this thread when this gets fixed.

Do we have an anticipated date when this will be fixed? I need to use these forms as soon as possible.

    Thank you.

Unfortunately, there is no estimated time-frame for a resolution. Showing all headers and text its the default behavior, not sure yet if the option to only show conditioned headers and text will be implemented.

I will send a message to our back-end team, hopefully we can be notified soon.

it works fine on my other forms. the text that shows on the pdf is based on the condition from the drop down selected. the only form I have found that does not work is the one entitled Retainer, https://form.jotform.com/danielmorganlaw/Retainer

Just to clarify on this feature. There is no bug on this functionality or feature. The submission PDF report by default will always show all the fields in the form.

Condition logic will not customize the PDF report.

So you cannot create conditions rules that will dynamically create a PDF report that will contain different fields/data on it.

At most, what can be done is to customize the PDF report using the PDF editor in the submission panel. Take note though that the customized PDF report is fixed or static only. However you designed/customized it, that will be the only appearance or output the report will have.

If this is a feature you wanted to request, I suggest you post it here https://www.jotform.com/contact/ . Provide as much details as you need so we can properly send it to our dev team.
