CSV file is all merged in to one cell

I've tried using various different type of table style forms including the matrix and configurable list widget form but no matter what, all the submission data is shoved into one cell which makes it impossible for me to upload it efficiently into any program.  What's the point of collecting data if there's no good way to use it?  Is there a way for the headings on the 'configurable list', for example, to be the headings on the CSV file and the different lines of data be on their own respective rows?  This seems like the common sense approach.  Please let me know.  Thx.
