Community Advisory Panel
The Sasol Community Advisory Panel (CAP) is intended to provide an avenue of communication and understanding between the management of Sasol's Lake Charles Chemical Complex team and the local community regarding issues of mutual importance.
Member Role and Responsibilities
Members will review, discuss, and provide feedback to Sasol management on issues that have an impact on or are perceived to have an impact on members of the public.
The CAP is an advisory group and not a decision-making body. Sasol will not ask the CAP to formally approve or disapprove any actions the company may take but will be responsive to the issues raised and feedback provided by the members.
Members of the CAP may choose to provide information to the public about their role(s) on the Sasol CAP but are not authorized to serve in a spokesperson's position on any company topic.
The responsibilities of members are:
- Review, discuss and provide feedback to Sasol management
- Adhere to current and enacted bylaws
- Be an active participant on the CAP
- Listen critically and exercise good judgment and fairness to all members, guest speakers, the facilitator, Sasol management and staff
- Serve on special committees as needs arise and are identified
Meetings and Attendance Requirements
The meetings will normally be held on the last Thursday of every other month, unless otherwise scheduled, excluding December, which will be scheduled separately as an annual CAP social.
Meetings will most often be held at Sasol, from 5- 7 p.m., unless otherwise communicated.
CAP members are allowed to miss two meetings each calendar year but are encouraged to attend as many as possible. If a member misses more than two meetings in a calendar year, without a reasonable excuse, he/she will be excused from the CAP.
