  • MSRIP Goal

    The MSRIP goal is to increase the number of outstanding undergraduates from diverse backgrounds who pursue the Ph.D. by strengthening their academic and professional development for admission to University of California campuses and UC Riverside, in particular, as well as other prestigious colleges and universities across the nation. Now in its thirtieth year the program has attracted students from across the country at universities such as Princeton, Yale and Harvard as well as students from Xavier University, Howard University, Hampton College, CUNY, Morehouse, Clark Atlanta, Berkeley, and Stanford, to name a few. Minorities and women in underrepresented fields are strongly encouraged to apply.

  • Program Term: June 26 through August 18, 2017- Eight Weeks

  • Research Areas Available

    UCR provides internships in all areas of the university ranging from the physical, biological and agricultural sciences, chemical/environmental and electrical engineering and computer science, to the social sciences, humanities and education (disciplines may vary based upon faculty availability).

  • Program Activities

    • Eight-week research internship
    • GRE preparation workshops
    • Attend seminars and graduate application workshops
    • Submission of research abstracts
    • Formal research presentation

    Program provisions

    • Stipend (up to $3,000)
    • Room and board (as appropriate)
    • Out-of-state transportation (up to $500)
    • Cultural and social activities (may be included)
  • Elegibility

    1. U.S Citizen, permanent resident or DACA
    2. Juniors, seniors from a 4-year institution and first-year Masters students enrolling at UCR Fall 2017;  freshmen and sophmores may not apply
    3. Interest in pursuing a graduate degree (i.e., masters, doctoral)
    4. First generation college, socioeconomic hardship background or other criteria which you think pertinent
    5. Minimum 3.0 GPA
    6. Enrolled, full time student at four-year university or college
  • Application Procedures

    1) Complete and sign summer application

    2) Submit unofficial college transcript(s), including Fall 2016 grades (follow instructions on application)

    3) Submit a Financial Aid award letter/transcript from your institution (follow instructions on application

    4) Ask faculty to provide two letters of recommendation (link to submission form attached)

     

     

    Application Deadline: All documents must be submitted by February 17, 2017

    Award Notification: By no later than March 31, 2017
