    The International Student Office is looking for friendly and motivated SBCC students to be part of a group that serves our diverse community on campus.

    HOW DOES THE STUDENT AMBASSADOR PROGRAM WORK?
    Students attend training sessions to develop cultural awareness, cultivate peer support strategies, and learn about student event planning, marketing, and public speaking. Students who attend all the training sessions earn the Ambassador Certificate.

    Ambassadors work together as a group to:

    • Plan social events to bring together local and international students
    • Provide support to the International Office at orientations
    • Volunteer in Santa Barbara at community action and fundraising events


    ARE YOU ELIGIBLE TO APPLY? APPLICANTS MEET THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:

    • Must have completed one full semester at SBCC, earning a minimum 2.5 GPA
    • Must communicate effectively, and work as part of a team
    • Must be aware of issues faced by new international students
    • If applicants are admitted, they must commit to at least two semesters with the Ambassador Program


    WHAT ARE THE TIME COMMITMENTS FOR BEING AN AMBASSADOR?

    • Ambassadors meet most Fridays, 1:00 – 2:00 PM
    • Ambassadors attend the Ambassador Retreat on the first Saturday of the semester
    • Ambassadors assist at New Student Orientations prior to the start of the semester
    • Ambassadors participate in regular events sponsored by the International Office, including but not limited to: ISSP Scholarship Fundraiser, Winter Celebration (December), International Week / Soccer Tournament (April), Graduation BBQ (May)
    • Ambassadors who attend the weekly meetings on a regular basis, contribute to events and fulfill 8 training workshops, will earn a Certificate


    TO APPLY: Complete the Ambassador application below and submit it with a Personal Statement (1 page, double spaced). The Personal Statement should explain why you want to be an Ambassador, AND how you will contribute to our team that enhances our ability to serve our school.
