A symposium has multiple presentations pertaining to a single topic. The abstracts may describe completed research or research in progress with a discussion of methodological considerations, a synthesis of related literature or other research topics of relevance. Abstracts must include: Purpose, theoretical/conceptual framework, subjects, method and results and conclusions, as applicable. The symposium title must be included with the submission.
Each year, a subset of the RIGs are offered an opportunity to present guaranteed symposiums. The chairperson or designee for each RIG that has a guaranteed symposium (the symposium organizer) coordinates the call for abstracts for the symposium and a peer-review process that occurs within the RIG that is organizing the symposium. There are two formats that may be chosen for a guaranteed symposium: (1) paper session with 4-5 podium presentations; or, (2) poster discussion session with 9-10 poster presentations. The deadline date for submission of abstracts for guaranteed symposia is August 15, 2015.
